Correct. I posted earlier. It's not normalnfor u related adults to engage with teens. Teens should talk to their own parent, teachers, counselors and their peers. My kid would have sat on the phone texting with friends.

What would have been normal if for the 15 year old to go inside and sit on their phone away from the adults AND away from the kids, snapping friends about how bored they are.

Why are we still talking about this??? The difference between my 12 and 15 year olds in terms of maturity, chatting with adults and wanting to play with other kids is huge. OP will understand one day.

Yea that stood out to me too. Sounds like the OP still infantilizes her kids.

What would be abnormal would be a 15yr old girl wanting to hang out with little kids playing video games. Newsflash! Not everyone is raising intellectual midgits and plunking their kids down in front of screens.

I can't wait until OP's 11 year old is 15. It's the same like a parent of an infant talking about an 11 year old. The difference between 11 and 15 is huge.

Get yourself together OP.

15 is the age where they’re trying to be mature and don’t want to associate with the younger kids. They’re trying to separate from all that.

Of course they do - they want to hear what adults are talking or gossiping about.

Um no. Adult gossip is boring. And if it isn’t, it shouldn’t be discussed around teens.

Just can't imagine myself being a kid wanting to hang out with the adults. I was able to, just didn't want to.

It was definitely me! Doubly so if the alternative was babysitting.
