I don't know who is more low intelligence, the protesters in Congress on J6 or the people who genuinely believe they could have overthrown the election? You really think that somehow something would have happened and the election results blocked and Biden never allowed to be president? As Biden likes to say, come on, man! Even in their worst behavior with people killed, all that would have happened would be a delay of a day or so till the results were certified.

This has been covered extensively, in essays published after the election, but before 1/6 as well as covered through the J6 commission and the Eastman lawsuits.

The theory was that by delaying the certification of the counting of electoral votes, there would be time for several "controversial" states to redo their apportion of Electoral College voters - hence the "false slate" of electors from states like Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania that would essentially throw the election to the US Congress where the majority State GOP delegations would "award" the election to Trump.

If you don't know or understand this, then you clearly have not been paying ANY attention to the broad conspiracy from Trump, his attorneys and the various federal and state elected officials involved. Maybe do a little research.

He plead guilty. Hard to recant, and there isn't evidence, video or otherwise, that exonerates him.

Tucker’s argument that Chansley isn’t as guilty because of the newly released footage is like arguing you can’t possibly be guilty of a crime when you politely wandered through the show room and spoke to the sales guy before stealing a new Mercedes.

I don't understand how anyone in their right mind would think it's somehow OK to participate with a large group to violently smash your way into a government building, attack police, trespass, ransack, vandalize and steal, and interrupt an official government proceeding?

The only way anyone could ever possibly think that would be OK is to be convinced that you are on the winning side, will succeed, and will be pardoned for your crimes. And that is only possible with an overthrow of the government.

The claims that "it was spontaneous" are all the more ludicrous given they had designated "breach teams" and encrypted radios for coordination, they had weapons, zip ties designed for human restraint, they had tactical gear, and there is evidence they had been planning it for weeks in advance. That is NOT "spontaneous."

The only thing that matters here is intent. And the fact remains that they had intent, they brought zip ties, knives and other weapons, we now know that Oathkeepers and Proud Boys had large weapons caches nearby. The fact remains that police officers were assaulted, many received serious injuries, there were deaths and there was significant trauma that also resulted in several suicides afterward.

Whether or not it was hare-brained and doomed to fail is not relevant.
