My son plays for one of the weakest teams in one of the weakest districts. We will end our season getting shellacked by putative the district champ followed up with game against a regional powerhouse which will be no fun for anyone involved accept for maybe the parents of the 3rd string FOGO at Robo or LB.
Honest question - do you think the kids would prefer no postseason? Or districts only but no regionals?

All four teams that make the semi-finals qualify for the regional playoffs.

I hate the opening round games because coaches can't win. The higher seeds need to play their starters for at least the first half to get in reps in an actual game situation but you look like a jerk if you run up the score

Liberty (this one is a lock)
(1) Yorktown (Bye)
(4) Herndon v. (5) Washington-Liberty
(2) McLean v. (7) Marshall
(3) Langley v. (6) Wakefield
Patriot (this one is a lock)
(1) Robinson v. (8) Fairfax
(4) West Potomac v. (5) West Springfield
(2) Lake Braddock v. (7) Alexandria City
(3) South County v. (6) Woodson
Concorde (this is a lock, with only SL and Centreville potentially switching seeds based on their upcoming head-to-head, but not affecting the bracket games)
(1) Madison (Bye)
(4) South Lakes v. (5) Centreville
(2) Oakton (Bye)
(3) Westfield v. (6) Chantilly
Cedar Run (this one has the most potential variability, especially if Patriot beats Battlefield
(1) Battlefield v. (8) Unity Reed
(4) John Champe v. (5) Gainesville
(2) Freedom v. (7) Osbourn
(3) Patriot v. (6) Osbourn Park
One more update - Patriot now has at least the #3 seed by beating John Champe
