We all know what they mean when they say someone believed conspiracy theories about child pornography, so why not call it what it is? And why not state what kind of meme that poster is used for on 4chan?

Could you please explain what you are trying to say here? I honestly do not understand. But it does seem important.

Why does there seem to be so little reporting or any information reaching the public here?

This whole situation seems unnecessarily mysterious.

The fact that the ATF and the FBI were called in so quickly makes me think there is a lot more to this than we might ever know. I’m mostly concerned with who funded this shooter and how much of a threat do they pose in the future? And how do we keep the crazies from breeding on 4chan?!?

Today's WaPo has a good article on the details of the shooting, and the status of the investigation. I'm a Burke parent and it tracks with what we've been told. Also, advising my HS kid not to read it. The photos alone are very upsetting.

The WaPo article definitely tried to state the facts strictly from what police shared. We all know what they mean when they say someone believed conspiracy theories about child pornography, so why not call it what it is? And why not state what kind of meme that poster is used for on 4chan?

And how do the police still not have his cell phone! That makes me SO angry. And how do they not know how he paid for his apartments? Do both apartment complexes have such bad record keeping that they can’t figure that out? It feels like this is moving very slowly. We need to understand why to move on. Should we live in fear that crazy internet people funded his operation and will take over where he left off? There has to be something we can glean from this tragedy to prevent the next one.

Unfortunately those chilling photos were necessary for people to understand what actually happened. It’s taken 3 weeks to get an accurate representation. We are also a Burke family and it’s chilling to know the shooter was still alive while students and staff were huddled in the alley waiting to get shuttled to the library. Still wrapping my mind around the fact that we live in an area with the need for full time jobs just to investigate mass shootings.

No one posting here believes that. I believe he was using that poster as an anti-black meme as used in 4chan. Read the guardian article for more explanation.

This article references everything that MSM is leaving out. Again, why isn’t this being reported?

Wait - the killer was BIPOC.

What is the race of the 4 victims?

This almost definitely doesn't matter, as the shooter was firing such a huge number of rounds wildly at the school/people in general -- he wasn't using a sniper rifle and didn't appear to be trying to target any specific individuals with his gunfire.

His motivation seems to have been to impress 4chan bros and then kill himself. He posted his video, confession, and comments on 4chan, his first edit to the Burke Wikipedia page said “A basedman shot at the school on April 22, 2022,” and he had Yakub on the wall, a meme that 4chan racists use to mock Blacks. He didn’t try to leave and just waited for the cops to come before shooting himself.

You conveniently left out the fact he corrected the word “basedman,” indicating it was a typo or autocorrect error.

What we do we think it was a typo for? Crazed man?

He clearly meant “based man”. He edited it a couple of times, but based was a shout out to 4chan:

https://slangit.com/meaning/based

At first, posters in 4chan's music forums used based to praise experimental music. Then, the word migrated to 4chan's politics forums, where right-wing posters used based to agree with controversial actions they found brave.

LOL! Hello fellow boomers. "based" is slang with widespread use among Gen Z. It is all over reddit, including in left wing subreddits. It has nothing to do with rightwing beliefs. Also, Yakub is really something making fun of the muslim belief that there was a doctor named Yakub 6,000 years ago that created white people using grafting. It's hilarious because of how stupid the belief is - it's not inherently racist (although I can imagine some people using it in that way)

Clarifying that this is not Muslim belief. It is a Nation of Islam belief. At best, the Nation of Islam would be considered a heretical Muslim sect.

That view might be true internationally. But NOI is mainstream in the USA.

NOI is NOT mainstream in America. They literally have 50,000 adherents or less in the U.S. today. They peaked at 250,000 followers in the 1970s and have been declining ever since.

Jews for Jesus has supposedly 100,000 adherents and in no way would I ever call them "mainstream."

The fact that it is mainstream in the US does not bear on the fact that NOI is not orthodox Islam.

That has no bearing on the NOI poster found on the shooter’s apartment wall.
