Subject: 5-11 Vaccine appointments thread
I’m in MoCo. Can I take my child to VA or DC? I can’t get a CVS appointment nor can I get one at Walgreens or Safeway. Thanks!

Agree with this. As long as you're willing to schedule a week or more out there are plenty of 5-11 appointments at Tysons. I know we're all eager to get our kids the "get out of pause/quarantine free!" card, but it'll happen.
I would be delighted to schedule a week out (but only on a weekend) but the MoCo site is only scheduling a couple days in advance! Annoying.

Agree with this. As long as you're willing to schedule a week or more out there are plenty of 5-11 appointments at Tysons. I know we're all eager to get our kids the "get out of pause/quarantine free!" card, but it'll happen.

Well, yes and no. There are none within walking distance of us. And I don't know that we'll want to travel by metro to see if there's a 3 hour wait outside in the cold with my 6 year old.

Yes, I think this is it. They want to go to their nearest pharmacy of choice and get it done before their friends. They don't want to wait in line at a walk-in clinic or drive more than 5 minutes down the road. The frustration last year at the adult roll out was legit, but this is just hand wringing for the sake of hand wringing.
There are currently about a thousand (A THOUSAND) daytime slots on Tuesday at Fairfax Co Government Center. That's open to anyone, not just Fairfax residents. If you care THAT much, pull your kid out of school and take them on Tuesday. Or take them to Baltimore if that's easier. There are options.
Uh, no. I have no idea what my kids' friends are doing and frankly don't care. We just want as much protection as possible before our Thanksgiving travel.
So what's holding you back? Go to a DC walk-up clinic tomorrow or next week (or one of the Fairfax sites) and you can have the first one done 2-2.5 weeks before Thanksgiving.

A shot for a DMV resident helps Virginia, period. It helps more for NOVA residents than Ocean City residents.

DP. No thanksgiving travel for us this year so that's probably why I'm ok to wait a week or two for things to calm down. We're not travelling until the winter break and even then are planning to drive. I'll let you thanksgiving travelers battle it out for the initial slots!

It's a walk-up clinic. You just show up and get in line when you arrive, like the fire station COVID test sites they've been doing. I would expect lines around the block for the first few (like at the test sites), but if you're willing to wait a week or drive to Wards 7 or 8, I bet the wait will be much shorter.
