One could nitpick and point out that STA beat SSSA last year, and lost to Prep by only 2 this year. But okay, agree that STA has to do more than just beat Landon once in a decade to show the win was more than a one-off. The only thing I will add to the conversation is that all the anti-STA sentiment seems to me at least, to be borne out of something more (jealousy, class warfare?). Granted, St Albans, is well, St Albans. A name with national cachet and historical significance. It’s easy to begrudge them. But don’t let your jealousy, lack of true self-confidence, or petty self-doubt take away from the pride and happiness of high school boys. The parents may be ass-hats. But the boys are, well, just boys.

St. Albans has not beaten Landon more than a handful of times in 30 years. Obviously they are excited. I didn't see anybody posting that St. Albans is going to win the IAC. Has Prep beaten Landon since Giblin's last season in 2014? Seems like it's been a few years, and unless and until Prep beats Landon this year, I'm not sure why you would rain on STA's parade. Particularly since it helps Prep's chances in the league.

Game was at St. Albans

Score was 3-1 Landon at halftime, STA outscored Landon 6 to 1 in the second half. Last goal was with the net empty and all the other ones were contested.

Hang in there Bears. Sometimes a “loss,” in the win-loss column turns out to be a win overall. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and carry on. Building character is what high school sports is all about, right?

To you Bulldogs, well done and well deserved. You persevered through some tough times over the last few years. But grit, determination, obvious team chemistry and unselfish play, can pay off. You haven’t quite clawed your way out of the IAC cellar just yet, but you’ve earned respect all around.

Just when I thought there no decent posters left on this thread.......well said.

LOL. The post dripped with condescension.

"Wow, you lost 25 pounds -- fantastic! You've really persevered on that diet. You haven't quite lost all that unsightly weight but you've earned respect all around."

Agree completely!
Signed, a Landon parent who's son plays lacrosse and knows it's just a game meant to teach character, perseverance and determination.

Its clear that St. Albans was bad for years, but saying they are in the cellar ignores this year and last year. Except for the game against Landon last year, they have been solidly in the middle of the pack in the IAC. It is Episcopal who is at the bottom. St. Albans was legit last year and remains legit this year. Look at their scores - they deserve respect.
