Yes there is. Also the majority of tankers were ships carrying Iranian oil. So no fees on those tankers. Iran made a 3.2 billion this week on the 40 million plus barrels they shipped out of the strait plus whatever environmental and fast pass(line jumping) fees.

You are correct that Iran could threaten again. In that scenario, other countries with better ties to Iran (China, Russia?) could tell them to cool it.

Why should we gain anything? This war was unjustified. We're the ones who blew up a girls' school.

And started the war by dropping huge amounts of explosives in the Middle of negotiations.
We demanded complete and unconditional surrender that is how it started.

The only thing that will shut down the strait is Israel continuing the war. Israel must be controlled.

Iran struck a cargo ship going through the Strait today. So there’s that.
