Do you think it's better to abort Black and Hispanic babies with no limitations at all?

DP here. I think it's better for Black, Latina, Chicana, Indigenous, you name it women to have the freedom to make decisions about what is best for themselves and their families. I don't think I know what's best, nor do I think you know.

I know, and I think you know, that far too many Black and Hispanic babies are aborted.

You sound patronizing. Why do you think Black and Hispanic women shouldn't have control over their bodies? Feeling nostalgic for the good old days when white men had control over Black women's bodies?

Your lack of concrn for the destruction of babies who are Black or Hispanic is disturbing. If someone like Trump were encouraging Black and Hispanic moms to abort their babies or applauding their choices to do so, I don't think you'd be dismissive of what's happening.

Allowing women liberty isn't the same as encouraging anything...but I think you know that.

If Trump said he didn't care how many Black and Hispanic babies were aborted, many men and women would be using his words as an example of racism. ..but I think you know that.

Well for one, babies are not aborted,’white, black, or otherwise.

Yes, they are aborted. You can also use the words suctioned out, vacuumed out, terminated, etc.

Embryos and fetuses are suctioned out, vacuumed out, terminated, etc. when the women carrying them decide they do not want to be pregnant, as is their right (for now).

Babies are separate beings not embedded in another human being's body, and therefore not a part of this discussion at all.

Depends on your definition of ‘is’ is, amirite? Is a thing halfway out of a womb a baby or a fetus at that point?

The religious extremists that now run the GOP and the religious tribunal that we used to call the Supreme Court are banning abortion at all points and for any and all reasons. You can quit with your sad little red herring; women will die. Know that this blood is on your hands.

Exactly.

The Court itself is not banning abortion, but it appears that it would permit states to ban abortion. All in the name of democracy, of course. But what the Court appears to be saying is that there are no Constitutional limits on state abortion laws. In another words, under the US Constitution, a state could force a woman to carry a pregnancy to term, even in case of rape or life of mother. Whether a state would do so is not relevant. No Constitutional limits, apparently. And we actually know that several states are considering such laws. So, the Court apparently is saying that a form of slavery is okay under our Constitution.

You were doing fine until you equated protecting unborn children to slavery. Any argument for abortion that does not factor in the life of the unborn child is not going to be meaningful.

BS. A child does not exist until it is born. Sorry. You may hold that religious view, and you are entitled to hold it. You are not entitled to force your religious views on others. The Constitution at its adoption did not protect blacks or women, and certainly did not protect fetuses. Reversing Roe means a state, under the US Constitution, can force women to carry a pregnancy to term. That is a form of slavery.

What is your argument against those who hold that view but not from a religious standpoint? There was an interesting WaPo article last year about irreligious/atheist pro-life people.

I agree with PP that equating a forced birth to slavery (a lifetime of human bondage) is not a fair comparison.

You are entitled to hold a pro-life view, whether based on religious or something else. No one is forcing you to have an abortion. You, however, want to impose your views on others. And, yes, forcing a woman to carry a pregnancy to term is a form of slavery. It is in fact exactly what slave owners regularly did.

The problem is that the pro life people think a woman being forced to abort her child is a form of slavery. It may not be forced through laws, but it’s forced by societal expectations. I do not believe this, but I grew up in a very conservative environment. A lot of pro life people truly think that allowing abortion is harmful to women.
That's some twisted logic right there. Maybe they should think about the "societal expectations" part.

I saw this long, unhinged social media rant today about how our nation is doomed unless we stop abortion. The guy went on and on for paragraphs about the "daughters of Babylon" aborting babies.

Not once did he mention adultery, copulation, or the act of careless insemination. Not once in this page long rant were men mentioned or held accountable in any way. Not once.

Too bad the GOP doesn’t agree.

Yep. The GOP cares about a fetus but will let our children get slaughtered with gun violence.

They would rather move heaven and earth to ensure women die needless deaths than lift a finger to change the way guns are fetishized in their electorate. Truly sick.

I could not care less that these people exist. They’re free to believe whatever BS they want to believe. But last I checked, I have fundamental rights that the government can’t stop me from exercising unless they have a better reason than the beliefs of some whackjob fundamentalists. We will see how long that lasts I suppose.

Exactly. Don’t push your religious beliefs on me.

You are welcome to minimize what occurs, so that the process is more palatable to think about. When women become pregnant, there is a growing baby inside.

What are you 7 years old? Don't take something messy and complicated and dangerous and extremely personal and use for your childish fantasy land.

Whether you are pro abortion or opposed, the only people living in fantasyland are those who try to deny that a baby is growing and developing inside its mother.

You thinking you are involved in this issue concerning my daughter's uterus
is fantasyland. This does not and will not concern you.

You know perfectly well that everyone is entitled to an opinion on a topic. Deal with it.

Your opinion will have no bearing on the choices most women will make.

I get that you think you have all the answers.

I have the answers for me as I should have. Your answers for you are none of my business.

You're expressing your opinion, and I'm expressing mine. The laws are what count.

Doubt that very much. It Samuel Alito thinks most women are going to stand back and figure..". Gee, that old timer told me that this decision will be made for me by the state of Texas, or the star of Florida, or the state of whatever, so that's that"..he is the one in a fantasyland.

We can't control that alito and his ilk have no respect for the agency and power women will take over their reproductive lives, but we can control and exhibit that agency and power.

Many women are able to make mature decisions relevant to their reproductive lives without aborions.

Most women still want safe and legal abortion to be one of those mature decisions about their reproductive lives.

DP here. I think it's better for Black, Latina, Chicana, Indigenous, you name it women to have the freedom to make decisions about what is best for themselves and their families. I don't think I know what's best, nor do I think you know.

This. It has been decided that women and POC are actually human beings deserving of rights now.

+1

Too bad the GOP doesn’t agree.

True, my opinion is that you are pro-femicide and think women who have sex are whores who need to be punished. My opinion is that you should not be allowed to raise daughters let alone dictate the lives of mine.

You are ignorant if you think all abortions are even made by "decision". Mother nature "decides" that a fetus will be aborted for many reasons. You do not sound like you have mature experience and knowledge of many reproductive issues.

Most women still want safe and legal abortion to be one of those mature decisions about their reproductive lives.

No argument from me there. It is their mature decision as are the mature decisions made by women regarding abortions and contraceptives, and fertility treatments, and rapes and miscarriages and so on and so on and so on and so on.
