What next? One of those weight loss centers? I don’t want phentermine.
Your PCP won’t prescribe anything? Wegovy or Mounjaro?
They like me plump, I guess?! When I had my televisit I stressed that my main reason for seeking a referral for the endocrinologist was for weighloss…that I have fasting insulin resistance and that losing weight has been a frustrating uphill battle. She certainly did not offer any solutions; instead she wondered how to word the referral so that I would not get turned away…which I did anyway.![]()
Off to Google weightloss centers AND new PCPs. LOL

My PCP is absolutely no help. She offers no criticism and no solutions. How are people with BMIs under 27 getting these meds—what am I doing wrong? Are your doctors taking new patients?![]()
I'm a PP with somewhat similar stats to yours. My PCP was useless for my weight and related issues. A year after I'd asked her about trying one of these medications, I had made no progress and was miserable, so I switched to a different provider in the same practice, who prescribed it right away. That said, as I posted earlier in the thread, I've been on Ozempic for 3 months now, am at 1mg, and have lost no weight. I don't feel any different at all.
Ugh. I’m sorry—that must be very frustrating. I think that’s why maybe I should go the endocrinologist route to get the meds to make sure something else isn’t holding my body back. (I have fasting insulin resistance, so I know that isn’t helping things.) I don’t mind doing the low carb thing; I just need a little help to get me started so I can exercise without being in extreme pain, too.
Please do this. I am still having intense side effects from Wegovy (lost no weight) three months after stopping it. It is awful.
What are your intense side affects?

I'm on it. Second week on the 15mg.
I was on Wegovy for 8mo. Ended at 2.4mg then transitioned to Mounjaro. Dr wouldn’t start me higher than the starting dose so I started at 2.5mg.
Now Im at 5.0mg and so far nothing is happening. Im hoping that when I move to 7.5mg things will move again.

You are most definitely in the risk range for diabetes with that 5.9. Have you told her that you want to try Ozempic? That’s what I did with my PCP-I advocated for myself. She thought it was a great idea. You are the perfect candidate for it. And my. insurance covers it. Some insurance makes you try metformin first. My PCP said that if they insisted on that, she’d write a script for metformin, have me “take it” and then “report” really bad stomach issues. The move to Ozempic would then be justified. Since it was approved right away, I didn’t have to do that. I pay $25 a month and have lost almost 25 lbs.
If you go and specifically ask for Ozempic, and she refuses, another avenue is to ask for a referral to an endocrinologist.
