Oh, I think he wanted more than an appointment.

Think about it: when this all began (pandemic, press conferences) the Democratic nomination was not a done deal. Cuomo has proven to be a master self promoter. Also, a little delusional. I've thought from the time his profile began rising that he thought he would be drafted to be the Dem nominee. After all, Biden was not winning at all until Cluyburn stepped in. He had a horrible debate early on and, until Clyburn's endorsement, there was no momentum at all. Do you really think Bernie would get the nomination? Warren? Buttigeig? Harris was toast by that time.

So, I think Cuomo looked at the field and, with his ego, thought he would be drafted. Or, at least get the veep nod. Of course, once Biden said he was going to pick a woman-and likely a woman of color--that kind of deflated that hope.

Just my opinion. But, think about this: Cuomo began press conference on March 2 and had one pretty much every day until June 19

Joe Biden cinched the nomination on June 6. He had earlier announced he would pick a woman for veep--but, maybe, Cuomo was not so sure.

I'm tired of hearing what a great job Governor Cuomo is doing. From where I can see it, he's presiding over infection rates TWICE that of Lombardy, and death rates that are approaching Lombardy. THAT's the model of our response right now?

I'd rather hear from Inslee, Newsome, or Brown (Oregon Gov). They seem to, well, actually be succeeding. The Northeast - and I include Maryland in this - needs to just stop telling red states what to do. They've failed to stop the virus, and to stop the deaths. Maybe the governors of MN or NM, too, they seem to be leading a decent blue state response to this virus.

OP coming back.

I think any delusions Cuomo had of higher office are dead now.

Yes, I'm not the OP, but you can't just read the thread title, not anything in the thread, and make a comment like this that you think is so clever. It's been noted at least 2 times, and OP has been very cool. PP thinking she's clever, go read "Posters that you find annoying" - you are on there.

Yeah, you can, actually. And there’s nothing “cool” about the OP or the thread, which I’ve read.

Hey initial PP, I'm here. I'm also a guy.

My reason for making this thread was to avoid making heroes of people who by all objective standards had failed. And -- so far -- I might put the governor of Oregon as the one who's covered themselves in the most glory here.

Wow.

Remarkable when you think of the density difference between blue counties and red counties.

People in red areas are fine with this because they are tougher and can pull themselves up their bootstraps.

Well, someone else said, between 2016-2020, that there are red and blue states and that they would make the blue states pay.

The thing is, we are all one country and this strategy worked out as poorly as anyone with any sense could have predicted.

+1
We no more than get the virus under control in one place than it flares up somewhere else. I feel like we still can’t trust Florida’s numbers and they have the most of the B.117 variant. It’s not that it’s more fatal, but it’s 30-45% easier to catch, which means that there will be more victims to get sick.
