These PPs are basically telling her sons that women don’t have choices about their bodies—I’m sure they’re pro-lifers too.

Out of the mouths of babes.

You should talk to your son about respecting women and their choices. Then explain to him that there are men who respect women and don’t feel the need to grope woman just bc they can. Hopefully you can raise him to be better than what he thinks of men now.

Nah. I’m proud that he recognized inappropriate sexual content that wasn’t necessary in a super bowl halftime show. Parenting win for me and the values I’m teaching my family. YMMV.

Yep, agree with you here.

She is raising a Brock Turner so no... no family values.

Curious how you made the leap from recognizing inappropriate sexual content to raising a Brock Turner. Care to elaborate on this mental leap? Can’t wait to hear what you come up with.

Dp but I’ll make the leap since you are trying to play dumb and confused. If you cannot teach your son not to grope women or if he is associating that being groped is determined by what a woman wears that’s a problem. If your son believes men will automatically grope a woman for what she is wearing, then the male figures aren’t doing much to lead by example. Women can wear whatever they want. Performers can wear any costume they want to perform in. Men do not have the right to touch a woman no matter what she is wearing or if she is passed out (ie Brock Turner). How many people want to blame a woman for getting raped bc of what she is wearing. Nope nope nope. Teach your sons better.

He thinks it is a woman's fault when she gets groped ... she wore the clothes, she wiggled her hips, she put her self in the situation, she caused it... if women would just act whatever way this 10 yo thinks she should act she won't get assaulted.

That is some serious f'd up thinking in a 10 year olds brain.

This was my exact thought! As a young person, I went to many punk shows and the girls who crowd surfed got groped while the girls who jumped in the mosh pit got punched.

Are you guys so stupid that you think the "crowd" was just random people. They were part of the show. Holy Camole!

A 10 year old might not realize that. In real life, women do get groped when crowdsurfing or even walking in a bar/club. It’s not okay (obviously), but it happens.

The kid was worried about her safety. He was smart enough to imagine a scenario of drunk men in the stands doing something wrong. Perhaps if the mothers on dcum taught their daughters to avoid dangerous situations...

While all the 40 something house fraus thought JLo looked hot (and ftr she did), I imagine most kids were like, “Who’s that?” They don’t know her music and they wondered why a mom was dressed that way and dancing on a pole.

One of my kids said they should have had Cardi B or “someone people have heard of.”

You JLo fans are old ;0)

NO. You teach your son to respect women.

As a spicyass latina I love it! It was a great representation of my culture and my generation. I knew every single song and only wished it was longer performance. I could not be more proud!! I watched it with my kids and was happy she recognized some of Jlos hits. These women transcend generation.
The pole dance was more of a microwave warming show. Nevertheless I want to see the movie now.
This was the first time I actually waited and watched a halftime performance live. Never watched Justin or Matchbox not... well I did catch the insync tribute on youtube.
Anyways I wouldn't change not one dress.
Also Jlo was grabbing her crotch only to protect her lady bits from spil

Huh? I’m a poc and I thought Jlo’s performance was a bit much. Shakira’s struck a good balance.

Same!

The same thing was said about Elivs moving his hips. People are crazy. The pearl clutchers are saying Shakira looked like a stripper too with all the crotch shots.

and it's the job of the mother to correct him.

1. that is not a crowd they are dancers.
2. they better not grope her... women are not responsible for men's actions.

Most young kids know who all the artists are, maybe your kids should not be so close minded. He must not know baseball or soccer either.

Jealousy... plain and simple.

It's why beautiful girls in MS/HS are bullied.

You think it’s a parenting win to diminish woman for their clothing choices. Your son will grow up to make you proud in court.

You wouldn’t let your daughter dress like that. Everyone judges people for how they present themselves...especially women.

Whitney and Aretha never got naked like that. It’s thirsty.

If my daughter was a performer I’d respect her choices for a costume. I’d make sure to teach her that women come in different styles and that a costume is just that, a costume.
