I am a far left progressive but if there's a single republican who can propose that type of legislation- well then he's earned my vote. However I'm pretty sure pigs will fly before a republican ever proposes something like that.

Exactly, ^^PP, Trump, R farmers and all CEOs hire cheap workers, legal or illegal, because they all care about profits. This has nothing to do with R or D or any political affiliation. But, it's the hypocrisy of the Rs on this issue that gets to me. You don't want illegal immigrants, but you bring in cheap foreign labor on work visas who end up overstaying their visas and become illegal immigrants. Seems to me, Trump and these R farmers are indirectly contributing to the number of illegal immigrants.

The republican base doesn't like cheap immigrant labor.

The republican donors DO like cheap immigrant labor.

Republicans in congress listen more to their donors than their base.

Bull. It's the Dems trying to protect work protections for blue collar workers - fair wages, living wages, fair leave laws, safety and environmental regs. It's the R's that are rolling back all of that. So the proof is in the platform and Republicans don't have a leg to stand on there.

As far as votes, again, Republicans are the ones that gerrymandered the hell out of many, many states to give them unfair advantages (NC, PA). And it's a PA Republican who flat out said he would ignore the Supreme Court ruling finding unlawful gerrymandering in that state.
