Hughes is a transgender man living in Rochester whose mirror selfies are drawing attention to a commode conundrum.

Just four days ago Hughes posted a photo of himself in a women's restroom with a female friend in the background. One glance can affirm – Hughes does not look like one of the girls.

As long as trans-people keep their genitalia covered IMO they can use whatever stall they want - I do think however that it is very important to do educational work. There's a lot to "men" using women's rooms and vice versa. People will get confused, scared, traumatized, whatever and their feelings and safety matter. You can't expect women to "just feel safe" when a transwoman comes in and they notice. Just because they theoretically are safe doesn't mean that they even understand the situation.

I think if this sparks a discussion about how facilities can handle this new problem and that leads to a solution that would be great.

Good lord. Just change at home. Or buy a home gym.

No surgery or any piece of paper in the world will change the fact of any transgender woman/man legitimately born female/male. The physical change and documentation may provide psychological affirmation but you are born male or female, and other than disorders of sex development, nothing will change that fact. Nothing.

You can argue all you want (if you don't care about dehumanizing human beings) that transwomen are "really" men and transmen are "really" women. But at least get the facts about birth certificates and driver's licenses right.
