And you call us stupid? Trump absolutely has the authority to call for a military strike without the approval of congress. Plenty of Dem presidents have done it. He has not declared war.
Grateful if you can supply the citations for the "plenty of Dem presidents" who have done so. TIA.

Unless the US commits ground troops, this goes one of three ways:
1) Lots of bombing but leaders mostly survive and regime survives intact
2) Top leaders get killed, but someone lower ranking takes over and a similar regime survives
3) Top leaders get killed and a power struggle breaks out, civil war ensues
None of these are good outcomes for Iran or the US. Which is why this is very dumb.

And here we are, already doing another regime change when the last attempt was just a few weeks ago and did nothing.
I agree with all of this. I’ll also note that the US record on regime change is pretty bad, specifically in Iran. We fomented a coup to install our guy. When our guy was overthrown we got the current Iranian regime, which is terrible. But considering how well our meddling went last time maybe we aren’t the poster child for regime change.

They're going to essentially close the Straits of Hormuz. Oil prices are about to go through the roof.
They're gonna essentially do zippy. We have around 18 Aircraft Carriers, Battleships, Destroyers and subs all over that place. We own the battlespace. Anything they try will be dealt with swiftly.
