And she forgets that public schools are not childcare.
Buzz off, jerk. We're not saying that public schools are child care. We're just asking MCPS to get their noses out of our relationship with the private child care providers who we contract with to provide child care for us, especially when they're doing it in breathtakingly pointless and idiotic ways. Even they admitted it was a mistake, why can't you?

They're clearly trying to say something between the lines regarding what they will do differently next time and what they won't... but what?
I'm just speculating here, but I think no one explained to Taylor before today that MCPS typically let the child care providers open. He may not have understood past operating practices and community expectations.
I don't think that takes him off the hook for a bad decision. It still would have been a bad decision even if it had been common practice before.
I don't know what it implies for future decisions, though.

"Today’s delay also meant that we canceled morning childcare for some families, where before school care is provided at some of our schools by community partners. This announcement was made in error and should have been a delay. Again, I deeply apologize for the added stress that this caused to an already chaotic morning. We are truly sorry for the confusion."
Noting that our provider announced they would open at 9am and were then told they could not open. So it wasn't just a typo. They made a choice, dug in and are now facing blowback for making the psychotic decision to open high schools before letting child care providers open.
Absolutely a disingenuous apology. All of the major before care providers called in to check to see if they could open. Had it been a mistake, you think they would have realized the error after the second call from Bar-T, KAH, etc, and would have made a correction, rather than leaving parents stuck until 11 am.
Yeah, I don't believe it was a mistake like they're trying to imply. But hopefully it means this is less likely to happen again in the future, even if they are allergic to admitting they could possibly be wrong about anything.
That said, their website still has "morning child care is cancelled" under Code Yellow so I would not let up until we see that change: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/emergency/closings/#codeyellow

No need to call names, but 100% not voting for people who can't effectively oversee the school district. Their performance on the BOE does not in still confidence.
Um, there is another person as president of the Board now. But she isn't running for Council not yet anyways.
I will vote against any current BOE member running for any office except for Rita Montoya.
I think the jury's still out on Laura Stewart so I wouldn't lump her in with the rest... but other than that, yup, I'm with you. If you don't have the strength and courage to hold MCPS accountable, you don't deserve any other political job either.
I don't think Stewart will be up for reelection next yes. I think Rivera-Oven will be the only incumbent on the ballot got BOE unless Brenda Wolff decides to run again. I'll either not vote on these races or vote for their opponents.

Some on here wouldn't even know who is who on the Board. They don't participate. just want to complain they can't leave their kids with someone else. Why did you have kids in the first place??
Why are you posting here instead of spending time with your kids, you monster?
You shouldn't be talking about yourself that way
Are you in middle school?
