Why is it a fake deferral?
If you defer nearly everyone, they aren’t really in the running. It feels kinder to do more rejections.
Georgetown defers everyone.

Same. At least 10 at DD's school too.
That's a lot of kids ED'ing to Duke from one school. Are your kids in private schools or public? DMV area?
Private. And another 6 ED to Dartmouth and most are hooked or soft-hooked in one way or another (legacy, sibling, child of VIP, etc).
They are both super popular this year.
It still baffles me why anyone would want their child in a HS environment like that!
DP here, but I don't understand this comment. You hear about a college prep high school that has lots of high performing (read: smart and motivated) kids and that's what you're wondering?!? I'm of the opposite mind - my kid is val at a suburban public school and I'm not sure my kid is going to get into Duke ED because the last time Duke took a kid from my kid's high school was a few years ago...

Remember when you were in high school, asked a girl out and got lame excuses over and over? That's why.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:brown will move forward with ED date. I'm sure they're rewriting the letter, but they want their staff to be able to go home.
I agree this is what they will do. Otherwise will create a cascading issue.
Brown just announced they will delay the ED decisions for 48 hours. The letter says they’re fully prepared to release tomorrow will now hold off due to the tragedy.
that means a similar thing. decisions are made, but this isn't the time. but don't bother calling - the staff will be going on break as usual.
And the cascading issues unacknowledged. Students with HS counselors going on holiday break this week will not be there to complete ED2 (and RD). So if you get rejected ED1 from Brown you may well have no chance at any ED2.
+1 my kid has to have schools applying to in by 12/18. Not complete but in SCOIR.
