Virginia was stupid to do this.

NOVA elites really hate rural southern Virginians.

Funny how you don't mention Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin or any of the confederate states in your bleating.

Republicans control the White House, the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court, and a majority of State Houses. Republicans could end gerrymandering today of they wanted to. But they wanted some more seats in Texas, so they went all in with gerrymandering. So here we are.

Texas GOP redistricted themselves into losing seats, and now they are upset that Democrats aren't as incompetent

Oh my. Excellent. I cannot help but laugh.

Pathetic how the GOP votes against any federal legislation against gerrymandering. Don't like it? Advocate for GOP to put forward legislation to ban it federally. Otherwise, it is just more hypocrisy without morals or standards.

Republicans have unveiled a new congressional map in Texas that would allow the party to pick up as many as five additional congressional seats, an aggressive maneuver that has already met decisive outcry from Democrats and comes as the GOP tries to stave off losses in next year’s midterm elections.

Republicans already hold 25 of Texas’s 38 congressional seats. But at the urging of Donald Trump, Texas’s governor, Greg Abbott, called a special session this month to redraw the state’s congressional districts. After contentious hearings across the state, Republicans unveiled their proposed map on Wednesday.

Had the map been in place for the 2024 election, Trump would have carried 30 of the districts, while Kamala Harris would have carried just eight, according to data from Dave’s Redistricting App, an online tool that allows for analysis of voting districts.

The map unveiled on Wednesday represents the most aggressive effort for Republicans. While analysts said Republicans could target three Democratic seats easily, trying to claim more risked spreading GOP voters too thin.

I thought this was supposed to be the determining factor. Apparently they forgot when they made this map.

Guess Texas is turning blue.

Texas is getting a LOT of blue state transplants, if the republicans get too cute, it might backfire on them.

Yes this is the democratic response. Hope and pray Texas only gives the Republicans another 5 seats. You know the democrats will not respond in kind. We are so f((k. The dems will do nothing again.

Mark this post Dems will not redraw any district in any state. The Republicans will.

This post from July aged poorly.

Thankfully!!

They should give themselves a break. They tried *everything*, including using Obama to prop up the Nays, but enough people in the state hate Trump and the mid-term gerrymander, that the Yays won. If it's any consolation, this one was pretty close.

It was close. And agree that they did a great job with the messaging. I saw ads that strongly implied Obama supported the NO vote, ads that Spanberger strongly supported the NO vote, ads that suggested that the NO side would be better for Black voters. Lots of uninformed voters and older people were very confused, which I have no doubt led to the closeness of the vote. But once the YES side came out finally came out with the clear message of "If you want to stop Trump, vote YES," I knew YES would win.

Yep, the Republicans did a good job of muddying the messaging. My spouse doesn't follow politics closely and thought that that the correct (i.e., anti-Trump) vote was 'no'. I was able to clear that up on the way out the door.
