Subject: When is the plan for new HS programs coming out?
Well there is Rockville HS, which is in the same "region". Are you saying Kennedy should be with Wheaton? The region does have to stop and start somewhere. What you want is to keep the schools segregated by income. Gross. These regions are diverse demographically, which is essential in terms of the ability to provide equitable programming. Correct. If you're going to cluster schools into groups for reasons other than geography, it doesn't really make sense to call them regions.
Making horizontal regions across the county is not any more ridiculous than making vertical ones. It's just that the vertical cuts would have preserved segregation, so it's what certain parents wanted.
It still doesn’t make sense. How many high schools are there between Kennedy and Magruder? They aren’t all in the same region. It clear the BOE is dividing up the less desirable schools like Northwood and Kennedy

I already pay a substantial amount in taxes. These magnet programs have been around for decades and have a proven track record of success. Now we’re talking about scrapping them for entirely new, untested programs? Will you pay for these new programs?

The programs aren't mandatory as far as I can tell. Yes, Churchill is a haul from Wheaton, but right now a kid who was really focused on Global Ecology would need to travel from Wheaton to Poolesville. So duplicating that offering (or something) at WCHS would be an improvement.
