We need an experienced adult in charge. Not saying the others are better. But perhaps those supporting him could challenge him more rather than just blindly falling in line and getting very defensive like maga does with Trump.
Agreed, many are running cover for him. This is also a special case because he is running against two current or former politicians who won as Democrats (Cuomo, Adams). It is not like Mamdani is the sole prominent Democrat in the race right now like it has been for the last couple decades.

How often do voters who are clearly in one party continue to "challenge" their nominee after the primary is over? (Not talking about Independents here)
There is a different test applied to Mamdani compared to every other Dem nominee.
Uhhh look at Trump in 2016 between clinching the nomination and election day. He was repeatedly asked to step down and disavowed by numerous GOP politicians, officials, and voters. Less extreme, many expressed public disgust with Clinton in 1992 after he won the primary because sex scandals were still floating then.
