Subject: Boys 2028 mess - considerations and solutions.

I have a feeling Next Level and DCE will not change much. What I am curious about is what is going to happen with Madlax? With kids on Next Level and DCE not getting playing time, I am sure they will want to move.
I think Top Caliber, True, and Team Va. will get worse. Their good kids are going to want to play up with Next Level, DCE, and Madlax.
This makes absolutely no sense. DCE and NL (and maybe ML) have too many kids on their roster. But, kids from other programs are going to move over to them? How does that work because right now it belies common sense. And, yes, there is little common sense in the world of youth sports but even this doesn't.
This is why: all the coaches project their hopes onto a new face, this idea that they are getting a star who has outgrown his program, a player who is an amazing athlete but started a little later so that's why he is on a lower ranked team. The players he already has have disappointed at one point or another. The players on his own club's B team are less appealing and anyway the program needs good players on the B team. So yeah it makes sense.

I tend to agree. Everyone wants to be on a TOP TEAM. The interesting question is whether the second tier teams are necessary? The top teams have more than enough quality players to fill the ranks of college lacrosse. So why give up your summer and thousands of dollars to chase a 2% chance at playing for Frostburg. (I’m sure frostburg is a great school and all I’m just making a point)
Yeah once you are in high school, if you don’t make the top team at NL, DCE, or Madlax you aren’t going to be playing in college. Even many of the teams that make those teams will not. So what’s the point of all the travel and money. When they are young it is fun, but in high school I don’t know that anyone really enjoys it.

If you look below it continues that those other kids would go to B teams.

it’s been the same kids for 8 years. The deck just gets shuffled. Nothing new. If you are a 28 and not happy then you are SOL. not many options. Just suck it up and your precious is that amazing and not getting a fair shake then try out on the many national teams for a spot.

I am not a fan of holdbacks but it is incredibly sleazy to name kids' names. Equally sleazy for posters on DCUM to give it oxygen. I am surprised that the DCUM moderator allows the link to be posted.

Here to shout (apparently into the wind) that whatever the kvetching over age asymmetry in youth sports - and imo it is very valid kvetching - it is creepy, unethical, and just wildly uncool to name a juvenile in some video on a very open to pervs platform that doesn’t have the express permission from the parent or guardian. Your problem is with the parents, coaches and league and tournament organizers, not the kids.

I love this video! Lacrosse is nuts. I have a 26 too, and this kid is older than my older son and plays against my youngest son. If my 26 played against 28's, it would be stupid. I see it every day in the backyard for gosh sakes! I will say this, it won't pay off in the end. Fast risers early rarely make fast risers late, when it matters. I am seeing it this summer w my 26. Work hard. Improve skill. Get good grades. If the kid is on age and beating up on holdbacks, college coaches notice.
