According to new data published last month, the Biden Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has removed a higher percentage of arrested border crossers in its first two years than the Trump DHS did over its last two years. Moreover, migrants were more likely to be released after a border arrest under President Trump than under President Biden.

Well that sure doesn’t fit the MAGA narrative.

And it comes from Cato no less.

Cato is libertarian. They literally have put out articles talking about FDRs New Deal was actually bad.

Lol.
Releases over two year period:

Trump (51% of encounters) •712,930 (by Jan-2021)
Biden (49% of encounters) •2,440,145

Most blatant example of “spin” I’ve seen in a long time. Trying to use a 2% difference to say Biden was more likely to expel migrants. Even though absolute numbers are obscenely different.

lol. It puts the lie to the claim that Biden isn’t enforcing immigration laws and trump did.

There should be no ambiguity here - the GOP has repeatedly said the quiet part out loud. They won't pass ANY legislation, even legislation that gives them 80% of what they asked for, if it means giving Biden a "win".

The fraud are the people who complain about it like it is an emergency but then won't legislate to solve the problem because it isn't really the emergency/catastrophe/crisis they make it out to be.

One could also say that because it's an election year, Trump has ordered the GOP, which has been complaining about and raising money off the border crisis, to not cooperate on a bipartisan immigration deal. Both statements would be correct.

Really? I don't think so....

Three years would see a normalization of 5.5 MILLION more illegals entering our country under this deal. So, it is no "deal" at all.

What we need is a president who is serious about enforcing our borders because it is very clear that Joe isn't.

I guess you are missing the part about other than a 6 billion dollar wall that has already fallen into disrepair and separating kids from their mothers - many of whom are still not accounted for, the Trump years were basically no different than the time before or the time since. The only thing that has changed is the fire breathing in the media ecosystem.

That and the 500% increase in illegal crossings. It’s almost like Biden is doing something different with his strategy?

How are we getting these numbers? Normally people committing crimes don't register them with anyone.

was not an issue in 2019 and 2020

stop rewriting history
The right is willfully misconstruing different data to create the hysteria among its ranks. That is not to say that it isn't an issue. It is, but it has been an issue for 40 years and the GOP refuses to do anything about it at every turn. This time, right now, is no different than 2013. And the GOP sure didn't do anything about it when it controlled both houses of Congress and the White House.

You’re right. The numbers are much higher probably. These are just the increases in apprehensions.

Wait. More apprehensions? That can't be right. We have open borders.

You know what "apprehension" means in Biden talk don't you?

Migrants enter illegally. Are processed by CBP. And, released into the country within hours.
And, "processed" does not mean "vetted" since many of these migrants cannot be vetted and many use fictitious names. That is why passports and IDs are scattered before they are "apprehended."

Because there is no place to keep them and they aren't allowed to just send them back without going through a removal procedure. That's what the bill that the Republicans are refusing to support is trying to address.

Millions have been released into the country after giving fake addresses and a note to appear. How do you get these people back? Does the democrat bill allow for same day processing because once you let them go, those some 80% fake claims aint coming back.

How about we skip ahead to just implementing e-verify across the country?

Yes, it allows for immediate removals. That’s the point. The question is why the republicans are blocking it.

So same day processing for 25k people a day. Because I didn’t see anything defining that kind of capacity.
