LAPD has not ruled out a hate crime. The investigation into the death is still ongoing .For now the suspect is charged with involuntary manslaughter

It's really interesting to see the mainstream media right now. The shooting in Burlington, VT is just a little bullet on the NY Times whereas it takes center stage on the LA Times, ABC, NBC News.
