Actually most companies profited. In fact big pharma made millions, as did steel, as did big tech, as did automobiles.

The biggest benefactors have been the Washington elite as people like Pelosi made million on insider trading deals.

Biden’s son raked in million himself.

Grocery stores are raking in millions. They need to to offset the costs they’ll get later this year paying for high gas.

It always comes down to government meddling. In a mostly-free market, producers can't just charge whatever they want. They are subject to changes in consumer demand as well as competition. The only time that producers can charge a premium above fair market price is if there is some abnormal increase in demand or restriction in supply. Joe Biden's policies have severely disrupted the domestic supply of energy to the extent that there are no good/quick domestic options to make up for the shortfall, and thus prices rise.

Given that gas prices are driven by futures prices, Joe Biden can cause an immediate adjustment in crude oil prices by greenlighting pipeline projects or resuming the leasing of government land for oil exploration. These supply assurances will cause crude futures to drop, translating to a direct decrease in gasoline prices at the pump.

The question is not how to lower gasoline prices, but whether Biden has the balls to do it, knowing that the progressive wing of the Democratic party will tar/feather him if he goes through with this.

Yeah, sure, "government meddling." Bear in mind that the oil companies would not have any prospects at all were it not for the government leasing federal lands to them at ludicrously low prices. But that's "meddling and interference." And sure, it's "government meddling" to expect oil companies to use best practices and minimize pollution, and be responsible for any mess they make. How horrible of that evil government. How dare they get in the way of corner-cutting profit-making.

Bear in mind those oil companies would not even be able to move oil around the country without the government allowing eminent domain land acquisition taking, for pipeline companies to take that land away from farmers, families, businesses, native tribes and others at a pittance compared to what it's worth. And how dare the government expect them to be responsible where it comes to how and where they build that pipeline, given all of the disastrous pipeline leaks that already happened. How awful, how shameful, the government is so mean and cruel and hateful. Pipeline companies should be allowed to pollute aquifers and kill off endangered species if they want to. As long as they are rolling in the dough none of that matters.

I think it's more likely he's more concerned about the mid-terms and all the flak that he is getting from the Right about rising gas prices than he is about the progressive wing of the Dem party.

most people still rely on the local service station for fuel for their cars, and they rely on their local utility to power their homes and businesses. There are occasional exceptions, but generally when we need energy we can count on it. Fossil fuels, despite their negative environmental aspects, are reliable and available at large scale.


Keystone was an expansion of an existing pipeline. It was designed to bring more Canadian crude oil into the U.S., but would have also transported oil from the Bakken in Montana and North Dakota.

One of President Biden’s first actions in office was to revoke the permit for this pipeline. This is exactly the kind of action that makes it exceedingly difficult for energy companies to execute major projects that may take many years to complete.

California is an example of Biden’s policies in action or what he wants to institute. California is one of the most progressive states in the country when it comes to renewable energy. At the same time, the state is not known as being particularly friendly toward development of fossil fuel infrastructure.

What has been the result? Despite California being the fastest-growing market for electric vehicles in the U.S., its oil consumption (pre-pandemic) is nearly as high as it has ever been, and it has steadily grown in recent years. Further, California's dependence on foreign oil imports has tripled in the past 20 years. California now relies on OPEC for more than half of its oil needs. This is in stark contrast to most U.S. states, which have seen crude oil imports plunge over the past decade until jsit recently under Biden. It shows as well with gas peaking theee higher than anywhere else.

We don’t want to be like California- and if that’s what you want move there as there is room as ma y are leaving it because it’s turned into a toilet quite literally.
