And yeah. Obviously she's going to get treated "like a second-class citizen for years" - because that's what a mistress is. A mistress is not a wife. That's also why she took the backseat and avoided the limelight, by the way. Not because she's some humble Mother Theresa, but because she's savvy about PR and she knows the public won't be thrilled that Charles' aggressive, possessive side piece - the same side piece who bullied Diana during Diana's entire marriage - is now flaunting her jewels and her man. Plus, she was already an old woman by the time she married Charles. Would be in very bad taste for an aging mistress-turned-wife to now act the princess when Kate Middleton was already around to take that role.

SPOT ON. Thank you.
Diana had married lovers too so why wasn’t she despised?
Because she didn’t have her lover the day she got married or buy them gifts, unlike Charles.
“ 19-year-old Diana Spencer had to contend with, surely finding engraved jewellery designed for her fiance’s mistress, just days before her wedding”
That was the least of it. Queen Ho was stalking Diana from well before her wedding. This is the year of her engagement. I can't imagine being 19, newly married and pregnant on top of it, then as a I slowly age into 24/25 realizing that the woman you thought was just being friendly and showing you 'the ropes' actually was your husband's decade-long mistress, everyone knew about it, maybe the entire ton was snickering behind the teen girl's back, and then when you confront your husband - he not only tells you to f off but also makes it clear Camilla is here to stay and you will be attending dinner parties at her home to keep it from 'looking weird'.
The nerve of that manipulative POS and his homewrecking piece of trash.

Still waiting on all the evidence that people are upset about this recent announcement. Maybe it's just you. Diana's #1 fan.
Maybe 87% of the UK population thinks her breath stinks. Does it matter why?

It’s curious how she doesn’t aspire to all of these things that are to her benefit![]()

Anonymous wrote:I’m not really into the Royals stuff but the dislike for Camilla may be simply that she is unlikable. Celebrity likability is actually measured by Hollywood for actors. It’s a combination of appearance, public personality and other factors. Camilla’s has got to be really low. People may not be hung up on Diana but they know she was beautiful, could connect with people and probably had a sky high likability score.
In todays world of celebrity culture, it seems it’s very disappointing to people that they will end up with a 2 / Camilla when they know they could have a 10/ Diana.
What’s surprising to me is how bad the PR teams are surrounding the royals. For a group of people whose lives depend on the public’s opinion, you’d think they would take this more seriously. They either hire people who are terrible at PR but stroke their egos or there literally is nothing to work with so even a good PR team would fail.

You’re scoffing at something that no one has said but you. At least in Camilla’s case, she was thrilled to introduce herself as the relative of a previous royal mistress. She, and possibly her husband, seemed flattered to —‘em — do their best to support members of the royal family.
Seeing as Charles was single at the time, it seems like a cute thing to say at the time.
But you're still skirting the issue. Diana has had married lovers too. Are you feeling as much resentment for the wives of these men? Doesn't DCUM hate women who sleep with married men? If that's why you hate Camilla, why does Diana get a pass for sleeping with married men?
