Is this true? I thought Brown does not notify until mid December. Recruited athlete?

This must be a troll. Brown has not released ED and will not for approximately 2 weeks.

Not a troll, DD was there when student got notified she got in.

Invited to apply or accepted into honors?
invited to apply

That’s not a guarantee of acceptance and is standard for some colleges

Accepted EA to Beloit College (WI) today and awarded a Presidential Scholarship ($36k per year). One of the safety/likely choices though . . .

In-school decision today! UMW.

Great news, PP!! My alma mater, so I'm biased.

So happy. And such a different experience in our household compared to what I read on DCUM. UMW was the first college tour we took last summer. DD wanted to stay relatively close (in state or near). She was not into the college process at all. But seeing UMW was a turning point -- it seemed right-sized and more personal. She came away thinking "this could work!" And, although we did tour one large state school in person (twice) and another virtually, her mind was set on UMW. I think it'll be a good fit for her -- which is what really matters.

When you know what you want, it's low drama.

PP here. Agreed. UMW (or MWC, when I went there) is the ideal college, in my opinion. I remember touring some large state schools back in the day and just feeling... nothing. Until I saw MW! It was like this perfect little jewel in a darling historic town. I knew right away I had found my place. Glad to hear your DC had a happy outcome.

This should be a mission statement for the college search.

I agree. Or in the case of my DS, when you don't have a first choice but several colleges that you like (including safeties), it's low drama.
