They stopped thinking about what was best for FCPS when they bought KAA without truly understanding what they were purchasing.
And they'd have gotten the community HS for a song. People have been treating the cost of KAA as if land were free and freely available now and forever. The reality is all available large plots of land in Western Fairfax/Eastern Loudoun are getting snapped up as soon as they become available for $3M+ an acre - GW just sold their property in Loudoun for $4M per. Use $3M, the land itself would have cost $120M, the building was only $30M.
That’s literally what Skyview is.
Give it a rest. The magnet was voted down months ago. It isn't happening. You lost.
Agreed. The Illuminati-level conspiracy theories are exhausting.
did you not see mcdaniels email recently where he highlighted the 3 pathways at skyview? AI, drone pilot, and robotics i think. and then as a side note he said traditional courses will also be available
Mr. Jagel’s and his staff emphasized the traditional courses at the February meeting. They discussed the non-pathway classes. The staff and Admin are focused for all the students.
Chantilly, Edison, and the academies offer specialized classes and a full list of classes. Skyview will be the same.

I think PP is trying to say that the people enamored with the magnet school idea are keeping some infrastructure in the building that limits its usefulness as a community high school. If you've ever been in there, the setup is much more like a college campus building than a typical high school.
Yes, this is why I like it. Anyone know current enrollment numbers for 9th grade? I just want to make sure my kid can do all the advanced Math APs
Which math will your 9th grader be taking? Likely the math options will be strong considering the many kids matriculating from Carson.
He should go into Algebra II Honors. I'm assuming they will have that- slightly concerned whether they will have multivariable calc in 12th with a possible small class - but I imagine a lot of the kids opting in are doing so for the math/technical pathways and will also want it. I just would love to get confirmation of it because I do think this class will be much smaller than our base school (Chantilly) and I think there was only one class of it there with our last kid.

You can use the specialty classes already in place in the main building but still have science in one of the external buildings so you can build the labs and cluster them together. Put the library in one of the external buildings and use the existing library pace, which is tony, for a different purpose. The campus will feel different for FCPS but there are plenty of public schools in the country that use a different type of campus then we doo in FCPS.
Building out those buildings will be less expensive and not disrupt learning. They can go more quickly because there will not be students in those buildings studying.
The CIP has these done first - before they do the main building. I'd guess they are getting built out as classrooms so they won't need as many trailers while they convert the main building. Whether they continue as classrooms after they are done...Anonymous wrote:Utilizing the external buildings makes sense.
