Sorry your DD didn't get the invite.

How do they know to invite certain players over others in 8th grade?

Since that poster is unlikely to give you a substantive answer, I will try to help. It's an application-based showcase with a rolling process in the Fall/Winter that is a bit opaque. Successful applicants appear to be mostly from the major clubs, with coach or director recommendation, and good film. Big contingents from most of the top 10-15 clubs. From the rosters for 27s/28s, it's clear that certain clubs value it and advocate for their players (see eg Yellow Jackets). MD and NY clubs are unsurprisingly the dominant presence, and the "network" appears key, although there are a smattering of players from lower-ranked clubs, and states like California, Florida, Georgia, Colorado, etc. that attended.

Also, while it may be surprising to you, there are already a number of 2028s with a reputation. That said, acceptances/invites were not perfectly distributed according to the MD boards, as one might expect.

You think this means everything. It doesn’t

Yes. It is literally everything. Everything, I yell you!

Nicely done. Pride, Stars unsure of NL. No idea about MD teams.

While I understand the "money grab" crowd's point that 2028s are not yet in the recruiting window and aren't a focus of college coaches, I would not say that events like ID Experience, APEX, Players Series, or Best in Class are a waste or time or money. First, these events generally offer some good instruction from real coaches, as well as competitive games with and against other top players, with a different dynamic than club team games. There is intrinsic value in both for lacrosse development. Second, some of these events do have significant recruiting relevance for rising 10th and 11th graders. Attending and having a successful showing as a rising 9th grader may put a player in a good position for making the roster for these application/recommendation-only events in later years. That doesn't mean they get a real look from D1 coaches this year, by any means, but it's not nothing. In my view, it's not essential, but maybe a nice-to-have.

Not envious of those going to Frederica's turf in the middle of a heatwave, though, but hope it's a good experience for their DD.
