Do you think it's better to abort Black and Hispanic babies with no limitations at all?

DP here. I think it's better for Black, Latina, Chicana, Indigenous, you name it women to have the freedom to make decisions about what is best for themselves and their families. I don't think I know what's best, nor do I think you know.

I know, and I think you know, that far too many Black and Hispanic babies are aborted.

You sound patronizing. Why do you think Black and Hispanic women shouldn't have control over their bodies? Feeling nostalgic for the good old days when white men had control over Black women's bodies?

Your lack of concrn for the destruction of babies who are Black or Hispanic is disturbing. If someone like Trump were encouraging Black and Hispanic moms to abort their babies or applauding their choices to do so, I don't think you'd be dismissive of what's happening.

Allowing women liberty isn't the same as encouraging anything...but I think you know that.

If Trump said he didn't care how many Black and Hispanic babies were aborted, many men and women would be using his words as an example of racism. ..but I think you know that.

Well for one, babies are not aborted,’white, black, or otherwise.

Yes, they are aborted. You can also use the words suctioned out, vacuumed out, terminated, etc.

Embryos and fetuses are suctioned out, vacuumed out, terminated, etc. when the women carrying them decide they do not want to be pregnant, as is their right (for now).

Babies are separate beings not embedded in another human being's body, and therefore not a part of this discussion at all.

You are welcome to minimize what occurs, so that the process is more palatable to think about. When women become pregnant, there is a growing baby inside.

You are welcome to consider every living cell valuable, but if that cell is inside me and unable to survive on its own, I get to choose whether to continue to let it grow.

What happens to the fetus when a woman has a miscarriage at 6 week? At 10 weeks? At 15 weeks? Does the law see it as a baby that requires a death certificate and proper disposal? Do churches require that it be baptized? What if a woman has a miscarriage in a toilet? Does the law require her to fish it out and bury it?

Babies are delivered. Once a pregnancy has reached the stage of a baby, if it leaves the uterus it is called a delivery. Before it reaches that stage it can indeed be terminated.

I had a fetus suctioned out. It was dead already. Does that word make you cringe? Lots of women have their uteruses suctioned and vacuumed out, even when there are no products of conception (that is a medical term) involved. Medical processes gross a lot of people out. Have you ever had a tumor removed? An organ? Do you know what amputation involves? Yes, human body parts that are removed from the body. It happens. Every single day.

Why should we feel dumb? The SCOTUS confirmed that the leaked draft was a real draft. Are you suggesting it was some kind of decoy designed to make people on the left upset and force RW politicians to say stuff like they have no qualms forcing an 11 y.o. incest victim to carry her father's baby to term?

Yet here we are on "the big day" and nothing happened......

... Was the ruling supposed to come down on May 23? I wasn't expecting it until June. Do you have a source that states it would have been today?

PP is spouting an idiotic RW talking point that "nothing will happen" since there was a rumor the decision may come out this week. It's idiotic, because SCOTUS heard Dobbs and it will clearly issue a ruling. There's a chance that the ruling isn't as draconian as the leaked draft. But something, in fact, has to happen.

Get your daughters out. Send them to college in Canada, get foreign passports, etc. Lobby for status as American women to be grounds for asylum in other countries.

Men need to realize that a lot more of them will be on the hook for child support when abortion is not an option.

As a practical matter, all that can be done is work on state legislatures on a state-by-state basis and push for enlarging the SC.

Codifying Roe on the federal level will do nothing - the SC as it is currently constituted will just overturn any federal law granting a right to abortion. They'll find a reason .

Talk to the ignorant men (and brainwashed women) in your life about your abortion, miscarriage, and sexual assault. They know you're a Good Person, but they have no idea how their own family member BENEFITED from an abortion. They are ignorant that abortifacients actually save lives.

Honestly, if you did a survey of American men I bet 80% would say they didn't know anyone who had an abortion. Which is obviously not true; it's just that women don't trust men enough to tell them. Abortion is an abstract concept for the vast majority of men.

+1
Make it a point to consume actual progressive media if you’re not already. Don’t use the right wing framework that the “mainstream” (GOP) media uses. Understand that “libertarians,” “moderates,” “both sides are the same” and “apolitical” people are all right wingers. Talk frankly about this. Make enemies among the people you’ve quietly picked around - most of us liberals have those people in our lives and I’m assuming you do, too. See the misogyny that pervades our lives, still. If you’ve been one of those women who assumes that women have an equal playing field, now is the time to realize that we do not and extremists like the GOP are actively hampering our progress as humans.
