Personally I don't like the beach much and definitely wouldn't go to the same place for years, but also other people have different priorities/interests. Who cares what they do?

Airfare is expensive. I don't find hotels expensive. Not more than the US and we were in London over Christmas. If you insist on pampered luxury, every place can be expensive.
