Ugh…why do you make such pointless posts? No one said all different political outlooks are stupid or harmful. We are just saying that trying to end democracy is stupid and harmful. And that’s exactly what Trump and many republicans tried to do in 2020. Or was suing to disenfranchise millions of voters in several states, calling the SOS of GA to try to ‘find more votes’, pressuring DOJ (with the help of congressmen) to investigate false claims of voter fraud and then, ultimately, trying to pressure the VP to NOT CERTIFY despite the fact that he HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO DO SO not enough for you?
Me: I care about school choice, don't want to pay even more in taxes as a W-2 earner, and don't think we can actually replace cops with social workers without seeing spikes in violent and property crimes
You: SO YOU WANT TO END DEMOCRACY AND LOVE TRUMP?!
I mean, that is how it works though. Trump = Republican Party. It’s that simple. They made him he platform and he’ll be your nominee for 2024.
In terms of VA, it was the Dems who made Trump the platform/biggest talking point. I don’t think he will be the nominee in 2024.

Republican Glenn Youngkin’s victory in Tuesday’s Virginia gubernatorial election was about schools. It wasn’t about Donald Trump, or inflation, or defunding the police, or Medicare for All, or President Joe Biden’s infrastructure agenda. It wasn’t really about critical race theory or transgender rights—though those issues shaded the situation a bit by highlighting anxieties surrounding the education system. Fundamentally, the contest was about schools—specifically, how many parents remain frustrated by the way public schools have handled the coronavirus pandemic.
...
The unraveling began at the schools. COVID-19 has been terrible for everyone, and it has been especially hard on parents. Unpredictable school closures didn’t just screw up parents’ work schedules; they drove millions of parents, including 3 million women, out of the workforce altogether. Remote learning doesn’t work well for most kids and has been accompanied by rising levels of depression and anxiety among students.
...
Polling indicates that they are still really angry. Education was the top issue in the contest, according to the latest Washington Post/SCHAR poll, narrowly edging out the economy, 24 to 23. Democrats typically do very well on education in Virginia—suburban voters organize their lives around well-funded public schools. But this year, Youngkin entered Election Day up nine points over McAuliffe among voters who said education was their top priority.

The GOP totally capitalized on the anger directed toward school boards and made it a state issue. Voting for someone just to “send a message.” Damn the consequences. Fools.
I honestly thought Virginia had moved on from its horrific past. Now it seems it is not too far from some Midwestern state or a southern state. In between bouts of rage and anger, I’m now actively searching for better states to live. VA and its idiotic electorate deserve no more of my family’s money.

Honest answer: republicans see Asians as a useful tool to dismantle affirmative action.
That’s pretty much it.
I'll believe that, when I see Republicans actually trying to dismantle affirmative action. Largely it is Asians that are pushing the issue, and the Republicans are ignoring them, and largely not campaigning for Asian votes at all. Republicans could do much better in Loudoun and Fairfax if they ran against affirmative action.
Only affirmative action should be equality not equity. Educated leftists and Teachers unions supported by VDOE have made a mess by bring race into schools.
