Yes, according to Republicans we are cruel for noting that someone breaking into the Capitol (yes, even if the door was broken down by someone in front of you, it still counts) and participating in an attempt to overthrow the government deserves the prison time that’s coming. I don’t get it, either.
It's like this... he was just following the crowd. He wasn't violent. He was too dumb to know the difference, so he should've been treated more nicely (because you know.. he is white).
His family, of course, blames the Biden's government, even though it was Trump's lies and rhetoric that spurred him to come to DC.
Following the Capitol breach, Perna uploaded a video on social media saying, "The purpose of today was to expose Pence as a traitor."

It is no one’s fault but his own that he talked tough and tried to overthrow our Democracy and then couldn’t handle the repercussions. Too bad so sad.
