Looking ahead to next year, it’s doesn’t look good. It’s basically Capital or bust for most folks in the DMV at this stage with MCE imploded and Rebels looking like they are trying to formulate a new team from scratch.

What are the viable options outside of Capital?

None. NL aka M&D DC will see their best players leave once they realize they are guinea pigs for the new program and being sold a bill of goods. But, that is really only 3 or 4 players total. That is the point previous posters have made is that come HS, Capital has a total monopoly but before you have multiple clubs, you need the talent.

People forget before Capital the DMV had nothing. Players had to travel 1.5 hours to be with the psycho Balto / HoCo parents who post on this forum every 90 seconds.

They had another very good team but it folded called Supernova

I should have added, yes, they weren’t the greatest, but did put out a lot of D1 players

In other news, Pride Red is in a pool with Coppermine, Hero's Green, and Eagle Stix for Summer Genesis Origins.

Cue the people who will say it’s about time they play tough competition, and then the naysayers who will say they only have to play Eagle Stix.

That’s awesome for Pride. I’ll be rooting for you

Stars schedule still sucks

And yes, I’m a Stars parent

Remember, Stars and Pride sing Kumbaya together now

Not only is MCE and Rebels no longer factors, the other younger age teams are not good and continue to get worse. Stars, Pride, Metro all are not good. BLC has some younger teams that are good, but things aren't looking on the up and up.

MnD DC should make things interesting in the DMV.

Anyone good enough for the main MnD will be asked to go there rather than stay at the DC team; it's just another way to stack the flagship team. And most of the 28s are still going to try for Capital first anyway.

Pride had a good run. They did not quite get to the point of being able to compete consistently with top teams, but they moved the ball in that direction over the years and were on the doorstep. No club is perfect, but Pride did a good job keeping players and parents happy by splitting playing time equally. There were some unhappy players and parents over the years, but not very many.

The question will be after the tournament, if they do well in that bracket will the push for the Pride to stay together. Combining them with stars doesn’t necessarily improve their situation, especially if politics gets in the way and all of their contributors don’t make it.
There is no expectation they will stay together. The expiration date of Pride Red is a week from Sunday. Get in your shots while you can.
Figure that out all by yourself? I’m glad someone set the record straight!

I do think a combined team, with Pride and Stars's best players, and others from additional clubs, will be a better team--but it's not relevant. Decisions will be all about recruiting. Capital has the track record. No other DC area team does.

Agreed. The Pride 26 team was strong and tight, but they left in mass due to CLC's recruiting prowess.

Rebels is formulating some decent younger teams (2032 and below). They have a rec program they use as a feeder. MnD DC should make things interesting in the DMV.
