After all the pomp and circumstance of the President giving them diplomatic passports and bringing them to the UN as ambassadors this year? They are the only reason people even watched the UN proceedings this year.

Jin will not be shipped off to the military. BTS is a national treasure. If the sons of major conglomerates like Samsung and Hyundai can draft dodge then Jin has plenty of cover to not have to enlist.

here you go:

As a BTS fan I hate it! First song of theres that is a major miss for me. I just dont get why they collabed with Coldplay who hasnt had a hit in ten years? BTS doesnt need them! And it sounds like the same boring stuff Chris Martin has been churning out for years. RM or Suga could write a better beat in their sleep!

This is a Coldplay piece with BTS just adding a bit of lyrics throughout the song. Obviously it would be in line with Coldplay's style, no need to insult them if you're not a fan.

They are collaborating with MTS and Coldplay because it gets them exposure, money, radio airplay and possibly a Grammy. If you’re a fan you should support them rather than make snarky comments about their decision. Just ignore and focus on In the Soop in October. We have no idea at this point if we’ll lose Jin next year so enjoy our remaining time together.

Glasses V has absolutely taken me out in the Butter performance. Also JK has a lip piercing now and it’s apparently trending worldwide on Twitter, lol.

I obviously know the famous ones by name and their beats all slap like a D to the face, so I like them when I hear them (not the ballads as much, just the dance bangers) but is it kind of like the spice girls where 1 or 2 have the voices (or Backstreet) and the others just have to desperately stay on pitch for about 10% of a song? Or is it more like a 7 person boys to men who all can do harmonies and actually sing?

4 are singers, 3 are rappers. Each have their specialty in the group.

RM - rapper, leader
Jin - singer , visual
Suga - rapper, producer
Jhope - rapper, lead dancer
Jimin - singer, lead dancer
V - singer, visual
Jungkook - lead singer

What does visual mean? Again I am not hating but I am just curious- does that mean they are the posh spice of the group? The Joey Fatone if you will?

So this is kind of a quirk of k-pop. There are so many groups and some are quite large. I can think of a lot of groups with 9+ members, both boy and girl groups. The “visual” is the person who is generally considered the best looking and he/she becomes a “face of the group,” if you will. They tend to get more screen time and are offered acting roles in dramas, which then draws more attention/popularity to the group. There really isn’t a similar position in western groups because our groups are smaller and we don’t have as many groups overall. I mean there’s definitely members of western groups who are considered the best-looking but it’s not quite the same thing.

Sometimes people talk about the “center,” which started as a similar concept in girl groups, especially the larger groups with more members. But now it seems to have evolved as a term to expand to boy groups too and is now kind of the best “all-rounder” in the group who can do everything.

OK got it.

Everything I hear by Blackpink is so good. I like how kpop songs literally are 3-4 songs crammed together, entire key and genre changes in the song one verse its r&B, the next club, the next ballad

Since we're on the BTS thread: BTS IS THE GENRE

I just saw it too- it's certainly interesting..
I like it! Love JK's voice in everything.
The concept (story) reminds me of Porter Robinson's Shelter.

The outro is the catchiest part of the song.

I didn’t like My Universe at first but now it’s living rent free in my head. V’s line is especially stunning because his voice is unique.

If you like that type of song, I recommend Next Level by aespa! It got hugely mixed reactions at its release earlier this year (I always thought it was cool though lol, I didn’t get the hate) but is now hugely popular and is still charting in Korea even though aespa is now gearing up for their next comeback early next month. https://youtu.be/4TWR90KJl84
