Are we going to start posting cogAT scores anytime soon? New thread for that, by any chance?

here are the medians of the accepted group @ blair(taken from DC's letter):

53 verbal
50 quant
48 nv

You can use these scores and your DC's input on how they think they did to try and figure out whether or not they got in.

DC is recommended to take AP Physics and Algebra 2 in CAP. Not a cake walk by any means!


I thought you can't take APs in freshman year @ Blair? My DS's science teacher recommended everyone for AP physics, and anyone who took geo in 8th is going into alg2. Though if your DC is going to CAP they can definitely take magnet classes. congrats!

Very wise. More nervous for my DS because of one of his best friends got in and he is waiting to hear about the other one. He got waitlisted. Just worried for him because I know he will be upset if he enters high school without his friends.

However, after reading a few of your posts, I'm noticing a lot of saltiness among people and a lot of nervousness. All I have to say is - chillax! Results came out, and what's done is done. Just be happy for your kids and other students, and support what they want to do. There’s a few different things occurring:
1) Regular schools can produce strong students. Especially since these students are more likely to have to seek out extraordinary opportunities to learn outside of the standard curriculum.
2) Students who chose not to attend a MS magnet or did not even attend MCPS have entered the HS applicant pool.
3) Teacher recommendations play a role and magnet teachers who see 100 students a year and 1000+ in a career may not be as impressed with your child.

What a stupid, know-nothing comment. Here's what kind of a waste CAP was for its 2018 graduating class: Kids went on to Stanford (2), Cornell (2), UChicago, Northwestern, Georgetown(2), Emory, Southern Cal, NYU, Tufts, Northeastern, UMD Honors, and a bunch of selective LACs including Macalester, Scripps, Bard, Colby, Oberlin, Bates etc etc etc.

The future looks fine for that group of kids.

DC wasn’t expecting to get into SMACS but somehow got in. They want to go to law school eventually. Probably don’t need so much math and science for that.
