I was once around the police station and there were numerous dead rats rotting on the sidewalk. In broad daylight. With people walking over them nonchalantly.

An American president should not talk that way and say the things he said, like "no human being would want to live e there", about other Americans.

Actually, that’s exactly what an American president should say. If you hide the problems they won’t be addressed. In the next few days, all sorts of aid will be rushed to Baltimore. It is, of course, short term and will have little effect. The rub is to really focus effort on Baltimore’s problems rather than having false outrage that the truth about the city has been revealed.

You might be thinking of Trump Tower Grille.

No, I am actually thinking of Ashburton MS in Baltimore

Educator here. It's absolutely absurd that a state that considers itself very liberal has a school comprised of 96% African American students, and those poor kids are having to deal with rats. Seriously?! Why is this allowed? Why can't Maryland's leaders intervene and do something?

Yes, why do people always oppose raising taxes to ensure that schools in low income areas get the funding they need for infrastructure? It's a disgrace.

From reading all the DCUM posts praising the generous, liberal, open-minded voters in Maryland, I wouldn't have thought such severe problems existed in that state.

Hello, are you new to this area? Maryland has a Republican governor.

Please, MD has had 2 Republican governors since 1969, Ehrlich for 4 years, and Hogan for the last 4. Thats 8 years out of 50. Good try.

Based on current school conditions and demographics of Ashburton, I don't think he's the only one responsible.

Does he have the squalor?

Remember, Cummings district is high gerrymandered and includes prosperous suburbs. Poverty rate is not the only measure.

Even the last mayor (Pugh) is on tape talking about how bad the smell is from the dead animals.
There was a documentary two years ago on the rats in Baltimore.

Hundreds of abandoned rowhouses and trash all over the district just a few blocks from the Inner Harbor and the aquarium. Tourists don't go in that part.

This. It has a lot more to do with the squalor than the poverty.
I'm telling you - San Francisco will be next on Trump's list to highlight/.

The nation's poorest states are all red states. Go do some research trumpkin.

I'm going to guess that the students attending a school like Ashburton aren't caring if their school is located in a red state or a blue state. They deserve much better than being placed in basically a segregated school with a cafeteria they can't use.

Illustrates the liberal gap between promising people everything and actually doing something. These poor people have been hoodwinked by liberals since JFK.

Great! Now do Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, West Virginia! Only give us poverty levels, health care access, educational rankings.

You’re right. These states and many others have problems as bad as Baltimore.

It’s ironic that this controversy started about the US not taking good enough care of illegal immigrants.
Should we spend effort and money on them or in addressing the problems of areas like Baltimore and in states like West Virginia.

Dems promise that we can do both, but that doesn’t seem to be working for Baltimore or illegals .

This is Trump's trick - he says the most vile, racist thing when someone non-white criticizes him in some way. Then his supporters have to find some way to make out as if he did not say the most vile racist thing, and we all get caught in this whirlpool of hate.

Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.

Vote this a****le out, please.

Yes, but he didn't criticize the head of CBP, so Trump won't criticize his district.

And he didn’t subpoena Ivanka’s emails either.
