It's an asshole move - more importantly, a bad parenting move - and doesn't bode well for "the interest of the children."
It is. And they are saying that Brad is pretty mad that she did that -- they had talked about handling things in a mature, adult manner before this announcement.
Since they were in discussions about a divorce, makes me think maybe he's the one who wanted it. She might have rushed to file out of pride, but this would explain her rage. It's hard to believe he did something involving the kids that would involve this much rage.

Look, none of us parents can throw stones at these people. How many OPs are there in Relationships about aggressive dads and control-freak moms? Plenty!
Add to that the pressures of fame and travel and work schedules, and it's a wonder anyone stays married in Hollywood! Actually I believe a majority of the still-married have non-famous spouses who can follow them and spend more time with the kids.
And for the record, Angelina's work speaks for itself. She, not Brad or Jennifer or whoever else in this story, has been UN Ambassador and promoted the rights of children everywhere. She has her demons as do we all, but I have the greatest respect for her.
I wish her the best.

So there was either something he did that put the kids at risk or she's asking sole custody to punish him - or both.
As a child of divorce, I have no respect for someone using kids as a reason to break up a family. If there was "an incident" then you fix what led to it, with priority placed on kids maintaining a relationship with both parents. If you decide you can't move forward with that parent, you don't put out a press release stating the kids are the reason. It's a shitty thing to do to them.
She's asking for sole custody so she can dictate where the kids live and can move them wherever/whenever she wants. If they have joint custody, she can't do that.
If Brad contests the custody, she'll have a hard time getting full custody. She's not exactly stable.
I didn't say she would get it, or that he wouldn't contest (unless she does have something on him like the pedophile sex ring, which I do not believe is Pitt). I'm just saying that' s a reason for trying to get it. It makes life a lot easier if you want to move across the country or world if you don't have to get the father's permission.
It is easier if you don't have to get the other parent's permission. I wonder if that's why she isn't asking for any money.
With 6 kids, tutors, nannies, traveling all over the world, he should be paying for part of that. They are his kids too. It is insulting to him and the kids that she is not asking him to pay child support.

I agree with you, but apparently most of the users on this thread think that makes us horrible people.
No, just people who don't have any experience with people in recovery. As a recovering alcoholic, I care a LOT about people using around me. I will put up with it in moderation or for a short time from a family member, but if it went on for a long time or if it was very severe, that person has to go. I know exactly where it leads and I am not willing to put up with it anymore.
Recovery therapists and recovery programs specifically teach you that you have to stay away from people who are currently using. They are bad for your mental health and they will eventually lead you back to using.
Agree with you but she knew what she was getting into when she had her affair with him. He was the same Brad then.

Why? His wife seems to be amazing.
Yeah, geez, where were they for this Presidential election? She's very well educated ..
