It's a matter of honor. Yes, Brazil legit has terrible crime. But you don't get to lie about it and trash talk them and say this lie on national TV. If Lochte were a gentleman he would apologize. But he has no honor. No surprise there.
While this is true, this is a pot and kettle situation. The entire country is completely corrupt.

Cough, cough. The security guards are remaining anonymous, in fear of retribution (from who, exactly?).
Lochte said he paid several hundred dollars, and the police are saying less than $50. I can't imagine where the difference went.

No, see, here's the thing. You don't get to have vigilante justice AND judicial system justice. At least, not unless you're totally corrupt. If police want to get involved, then the ROBBERY needs to be dealt with through the judicial system as well.
