She certainly screeches and indeed it is painful to listen to.

Love Larry Madowo! He is very personable and warm with viewers in my opinion, similar to Katty. Above all he asks relevant questions, sincerely assimilating the response of the interviewees. We hope we see him more often!

Laura now seems to be shrouded in a strange golden glow. Redesigning and softening the backdrop/setting for her on camera will not change or help her voice pitch. It is just plain bizarre.
Believe me, I have been a BBC America viewer for a decade. Please reassign her away from the nightly news lens. Enough now.
P.S. I am not an "urban DC Moms and Dads." I am a professional educator in Connecticut.

I myself love the professional way that she speaks , being from the south I shudder to hear the English language slammed, her voice is like a breath of fresh air. Thanks for the opportunity to express. BM.

I agree with the above Comment. Why was she brought back. It only means we have to switch channels and miss the BBC News America. Her Voice is much too painful to listen to.

We had such a nice break over the Holidays when we could enjoy BBC America News with Anchors who could speak properly and had normal voices. Sadly, tonight Travelyan is back and I had to switch channels. It is too painful to hear her talk.

I have been reading this long conversation about Laura Trevelyan because i love to watch BBC News America every weekday night but cringe when she is the reporter. Her high-pitched nasal voice drives me crazy and I fluctuate between turning her off and continuing to listen to the 1/2 hour newscast which I really like because it covers world news. Can't somebody at BBC help her speak from below the bridge of her nose? I can live with her dialect though it is annoying. But her nasal 'screech' is unbearable.

Laura’s voice is grating but my husband has a crush on Katty Kay so I’m better off with Laura!

It is simply unfair of BBC continuing to allow this voice to Anchor its news program. It seems to get worse as she ages.

I am sure that Laura is a lovely person but her voice can drive one up the wall! It seems so contrived and is difficult even for me, born and raised in the U.K.

Someone could start a Change.org Petition to BBC to dump Travelyan. Not fair that we have to suffer with that awful voice.

Is there any way we can force the BBC to ditch her?! She is awful.

I'm English and just searched "Laura Trevelyan annoying". Was watching US election coverage on BBC World and had to switch to Sky because I couldn't stand her grating, whining voice. Stopped being able to concentrate on what was said which was in fact perfectly fine. No wonder she's primarily on World and not on UK BBC news coverage. The UK audience wouldn't tolerate that level of auditory torture. Shame. She has a strong professional record.

Laura Trevelyan's accent doesn't sound English or American to me. The unattractive way she pronounces her vowels make her sound Australian!

I assumed, when I first heard her, she had lived in Oz, but her biography makes no mention of such a thing.

The "Australian" vowel sounds make it hard to listen to her without wincing.
