But personally. I NEVER liked Prince's material or his sound. Nope Never.
Didn't like his wardrobe either,
Gimme GUITAR SLINGIN MEN 6 feet tall with big marshall stacks and not candy ass ruffles or hair.
That 80.s stuff was horrible.javascript:emoticon('');

I alternate between being horribly sad and devastated that he is gone, to so damn thankful that he was such a huge part of my life. I've never been more grateful to have been born in 1973 than now - realizing that I came of age during Purple Rain and the profound effect that had on me. Such a beautiful being, Prince.

He wrote the music and the lyrics. He sang. He played 20 instruments. He danced. He was a fashion icon. Bruno Mars? Meh. He dances and sings. Same with Beyoncé. Even Michael Jackson wasn't as accomplished in terms of his range- he was a singer and dancer. Prince was the full package. The amount of talent that man possessed for so many different things was incredible.
Yes, he was extraordinarily talented.
He was truly amazingly talented. Unforgettable. The world has really lost a legend.
Agreed, although I can enjoy them it's really the musicianship that I find lacking in so many of today's artists. A vocalist with a live band beats autotune and a synthesizer any day.

What many of us DO know is that he left a mark on our brief time on this planet with his artistry and passion. He was uncommonly talented and sensitive and that can be a very lonely place in this world (e.g., look at all the drug-awareness bores hounding this thread who don't have the decency and empathy to just shut it for a second). His music is a part of my life and I'm sad that for me that there won't be more and I'm sad for Prince that he won't get to make more. None of us is getting out of here alive and, if all of us were judged the way Prince is being judged now, every single of us would surely be found wanting. What exactly is the point of all this finger-pointing and pearl-clutching?
Preach! Amen to all that you wrote.
