Anyone else get the feeling that this thread is dominated by 13-year-old mean girls and social network manipulators who are trying to trash the school to pump up other schools? I'm not saying everyone is happy at NCS. It's just the style and feel of some of these posts is not something you'd ever expect from a parent.
I hope you and DD aren't basing your decision on a DCUM poster.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:My niece is here for the holidays, and I asked her about bullying in college. She replied it is non-existent at her college and mostly a high school thing. The wanna be Queen Bees are laughed about at best. There's no time for 'high school stuff' per my reliable source.
Of course, there will always be groups in college with particular interest but you can pick and choose without repercussions. Computer geeks, said without malice, can find their own comfortable niche with the same.
Your DD probably doesn't attend a SLAC.
9:58, could you please explain what you mean? Are you saying SLACs are like that? I went to a big state school but DCs are considering SLACs. Thank you.
I think you're being a bit paranoid. These bullying references apply to All schools that have females and not just NCS or privates. NCS doesn't have a monopoly on bitchy behavior.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:+1. Jackpot!Anonymous wrote:Nor do the parents apparently. Social climbing BS is taught at home.

Anonymous wrote:I think most people aren't talking about bullying at all anymore, but about the environment once the college pressures get extreme. The school apparently isn't good at helping the girls deal with the pressure cooker atmosphere.
Here is the takeaway I've gotten from this thread. There are mean girls everywhere. There is academic pressure everywhere. But other schools are not solely occupied by perfectionist girls with overachieving parents. They need more support at school than they get from the uncaring administration.
