I miss Vietnam Garden in Clarendon, outdoor dining under greenery and string lights, my favorite place to go in the summer.

Don't forget the Cellar! Which is now something called Milkboy Art House or some damn thing.

I have some FANTASTIC stories from time spent at the Cellar. Omg, what a horrible, wonderful place was.

Copelands on Rockville Pike.

My husband and I had our first date there! It's also where I fell in love with Bananas Foster.

Was Tiber creek the one where you could get beer by the yard for some ridiculously cheap price?

I miss the place butterfield 9 (is that right?) that was downtown near treasury. The food was really good and it was one of the few places down there where you could get lunch and hear what the other person is saying. Given all the interview lunches that go on downtown, I can't understand why more restaurants can't come up with a quieter setting. I was a MCDC and it was so loud I had to literally scream at the waiter for him to hear my order.

[quote=Anonymous]For nostalgia/fun memories: Childe Harold, Austin Grill, Au Pied De Cochon
For food: Red Sage, Japan Inn, Pleasant Peasant (in Mazza Gallerie)

+1 on this list, but I miss Red Sage the most. The food there was amazing.

The American Café. Chicken salad on a croissant was very novel in the 80s.

Yes! I have always loved Houston's.

Big Bowl in Clarendon.

The old Rio Grande. Uncle Julio's is not the same.

Agree on all counts. Houston's crispy chicken salad with the combination dressing was my favorite meal.

Anchor Inn Wheaton and a sub shop in Congressional Plaza called Jiffy Shops. I used to spend my allowance on steak and cheese and birch beer there.
