OP, I joined the donor registry after reading your story a couple years ago, wanting to do whatever I could to help even one less parent go through what you did.
Not too long ago, I got the call about possibly donating, and this week, was able to give someone a new "birthday" with a transplant. In all the headache of shuffling schedules to prep for the transplant, and the temporary discomfort I experienced, I lost sight of why I was doing it.
And then here comes this thread, brought back from the archives.
So OP, I want you to know that sharing your story has made a difference for others, both in appreciating what we have and doing our part to help -- and I too hope you find comfort and peace this holiday.
NP here. I also joined the registry more than 2 years ago after reading your post. I haven't gotten a call yet, but will be happy to donate should the match ever be made. OP, please know that your post not only sent out ripples of love, but also triggered ripples of action that may help save other daughters.
