They should have made it an AI/Robotics/Engineering magnet school. They would have had a full school and it would have drawn from all the other schools - with no arguing.

This is an epic disaster.

It’s not done yet, and problems are already getting solved.

Who is solving Westfield's problems?

The SB and Reid have failed the schools. Having some schools between 75-85% capacity and others at over 105% when there is a new high school and plenty of space at other schools is irresponsible. Decimating schools like Westfield and South Lakes to ensure the rich constituents are taken care of is just plain wrong and goes against the principles of education. These schools will lose electives and teachers and continue on a downward spiral. These redistricting decisions are so blatantly classist and racist. Vote for a new SB folks.

On Meren's Facebook page, where she posted the latest scenarios.

If she had more power and they were doing things as they'd been done in the past, a proposal to move Fox Mill out of South Lakes to Skyview probably never would have seen the light of day, because Meren reportedly isn't a fan.

But she's sidelined on the board, as part of the five-person minority that is often critical of Reid and has been marginalized by the ruling bloc of Reid supporters/loyalists. So the main thing she can do is collect examples of some of the weirdest splits under the latest proposals as grounds to criticize Reid and the process. It's riskier for her to publicly attack a proposal to move Fox Mill, because a lot of Fox Mill wants to move out of IB South Lakes to AP Skyview.

100% this.

I don't trust Meren and am glad she is not in power.

What is RIO?

Is the final plan going to be One of the Two current options?? Or are they going to come up with yet another hybrid option??

Then make a comment on the FCPS comment tool.

Maybe you can pupil place because I suspect you are not going to be assigned there. RIO won. Objectivity lost.

You have no understanding of how badly this school is needed. You would not get kids from the overcrowded schools..
You would instead get kids from those schools who don't need to lose students.

+1 that is exactly what would happen if it were a magnet.

She might have had more say if she had jumped on board after the purchase. Had she stepped in earlier and pushed for Crossfield to go to Skyview, she might have kept Fox Mill.
But, these IB people are hard to change.
Still cannot believe that for twenty years South Lakes parents have been begging for AP.

I expect them to fix the Franklin Farm split and clean up the Crossfield split so that there is a group at Skyview and a group at Oakton. I don’t see Crossfield going to the same HS but hopefully they can get it down to two HS. And the Franklin Farm divide is ridiculous.

Most the posts are about not liking the Franklin Farm and Crossfield splits, there is one from SLHS complaining about being decimated and a few pro Fox Mill moving. Meren is clearly stating that she didn’t draw these or support them. I suspect that she is resigned to losing Floris and Fox Mill and positioning herself to run with people upset at the changes to SLHS and the changes from the boundary review.

Mom who posted above about your child being the only kid from Navy going to Skyview, we now know your full name.
