The social services programs are not devised and implemented for the betterment of their recipients. They're to keep them from having obtaining more than "just enough to survive" so that they become dependent on these services with no way to get out of the trap. They're pyramid schemes to benefit the legislators, providers, and ultimately the corporations that are on the receiving end of most of the disbursements either directly or indirectly.

Half of the reason is because of willful ignorance and the other half is a deliberate scheme by the profiteers to keep milking the government teat.

This is why HRC was able to campaign half as vigorously as Trump and STILL received more votes than Trump even after a Dem had been in The White House for 8 years.

The Harris loss had little to with Trump or Harris. Her loss can be attributed to her being the VP of a very unpopular sitting president. Biden gave her zero chance of winning.
