And a lot of these posters seem to feel that you can't have a high SAT score/GPA AND ALSO enjoy a full social life. No doubt they're the same people who insist attractive women couldn't possibly ALSO be highly intelligent. Same old story from the same old people.

Sure. But what does being young and cute have to do with football? I could catch a dick anywhere, not just at the stadium.

Klassy. How typical.

Typical of what?

Typical of someone who thinks they're above a fun, large school but then outs themselves as very low class by the way they talk.

Oh, apologies for offending your delicate sensibilities. I’ll reword it—I was able to procure a phallus at any time I desired.

And, Klassy's back, proving the point with each post.

Use your smelling salts, dear. You’ll pull through.

Stop thinking as a grandma. Seriously, how old are you?

You mean your thinking isn’t as flexible as a grandma? Your brain is so calcified that you can only hold one idea of fun at a time?

+1. It's very strange thinking. People, including young people, find all kinds of things fun. It's weird to get bent out of shape about it. Lots of us had the chance to pick big state schools with lots of Greek life and big deal sports and didn't, at the age of 18, because we wanted something else. I'm not forgetting what it's like to be young, I remember deciding that wasn't for me when I was young. I've got no issue with people who did want that, but I didn't.

You decided it wasn't for you because it frightened you. But deep down you wanted it.

Do you use this argument about rape as well?

Wow. Do you generally make such illogical and grotesque leaps?

“She secretly wanted it” is the rallying cry of rapists everywhere. But I think you already knew that.

You are disgusting - much more so than the PP who was obviously NOT referencing rape.

Ah. And people who point out racism are racist, right? I see you.

It’s particularly tone deaf, to put it mildly, in a discussion about fraternities. Either you didn’t understand that or you did and don’t care. Either would be telling.

Are you sure you aren’t secretly anti-Greek?

I'm the PP and it's no secret at all that I'm not a fan of Greek life! But people like you seem to actually be *looking* for things to be offended by. You will parse every statement and every word until you find something, anything to feed your perma-outrage. It's beyond tiresome.

DP who has been more circumspect about Greek life. I am not at all the person you describe above. But the phrase “deep down you wanted it” absolutely gave me the ick, even in this context

Was I “outraged”? No. But there’s quite a bit of daylight between neutrality and outrage, and “got the ick about the person who used the phrase” is in that space.

When we watch these big national football game experiences, my husband and I both agree that big football schools have their own kind upside and wish we had that opportunity when we were young!

? Mom is 3 boys who was also at Columbia during this timeframe (although maybe a year after - I was there the year they won one game and we had an epic snowball fight). In any case, I don’t regret not going to a big football school at all. I mean NYC!! I’m happy watching an NFL game but college sports - happy for the athletes but not necessary for a college experience.
