^^^^^ kid benches the bar and thinks he’s working out.

Hey buddy, I agree, Oakton is a Top 3 program. Top 3 of what list is the big question. lol

I just heard about the offseason lifting regime that Oaktown has in place now. This weight room time matters. People ignore this team at their own peril. Definitely a top 3 program.

Making $.08 to $.10 since an hour says otherwise

This is why so many schools need coaches. Look at the requirements and let me know what rational person is going to go through this for a pennies on the hour position.

All of this course work other than the first aid class takes about two hours a year. And the first aid class only has to be taken once. It’s not a reason to not help out.

This is a ridiculous conversation. Looking at the roster Oakton only has 1 experienced pole returning and I’d Fall Brawl was any indication. No goalie. They will be a non-factor the whole season and will be lucky to finish 3rd in their district behind Madison and Chantilly. Just like last year.

I hope you're right. VHSL could use an upgrade to the talent level. I know of just four D1 commits in the 2026 class and one 2027. (forgive me if I am missing some) So if a whole class of great players are sticking together and going to their local public, that is fantastic news and hopefully the start of a trend.

Very cool. So what team has the best shot at taking down Oakton this year?

Usual suspects. Robinson, Langley, Yorktown, Madison, plus newcomer Indy.

If you're good, you're good. Doesn't always matter if you go to public or private HS. College Coaches will find you (mainly through club) to see what you do against top comp but you'll be known no matter where you play... if you're good. As long as a kid gets consistent quality reps against quality competition to challenge themselves against the best vs the average, a kid will get what they need to get noticed and recruited. Defining "what defines good"... use a measuring stick against top comp vs. average comp.
I know there's a lot of "have to go private debate" to get recruited. True in some cases but... if you're good, you're good. Club matters more than HS to get on college radars. IMHO.

Doesn't sound like we're talking about anyone having that distinction. Kinda like the world's tallest midget.

Please know that this Oakton talk is some knuckle-head kids. None of this is remotely real talk. That team is a fine team but they were the 3rd best team in Northern Virginia in 8th grade if HOCO is the measure most folks use. Anyone familiar with the VA Boys in the 2029 class will be able to validate that all the high fliers (or ones that believe they are) are already at PVI/Gonzaga/St. John's. Stay off the message boards, bro. You are confusing the adults

You all need to cool your jets

The 2026 VLC team was so much stronger than the 2029 team(s).
A large majority of them went to Indy and it took those boys 2 years to gel at the HS level and a 3rd to win a state 'ship.
Indy also, had a very strong 2025 class.

If these Oakton boys are that good, they will still need 2+years and support form the other classes to do much of anything.

Def not the norm thats for sure. Looking at the 2030 and 31' class, majority of the Virginia kids on either NL or Madlax are going private.

actually, the word on the street at my son's school is that 5-6 2030's on MadLax/Next Level are all going to the public, which would be awesome. but unlike Oakton, I will wait until they show something on the field before the bragging begins!

Def not the NL 30 team. That is bad intel. All of those kids are going private. Maybe with the ML team but still we are talking about 5 kids out of 44?? Not great #s
