It's not 1950. Try calling 911 today and it's unlikely they'll even bother responding. "File a report online." Or if they do show up, they aren't there to pursue a crime, they're just going to write a report and then get back on their phone scrolling social media. They are grossly overpaid stenographers.

Meanwhile, their bootlickers will rationalize them doing nothing all day with, "They're pursuing important stuff and solving big crimes!"

No, they're not. They're literally sitting on their asses.

I had no clue I could be scrolling on my phone instead of not even having a second to even take a piss between each run. Thanks for letting me know how much I’ve been overworking!

I've watched a group of small women take some big guys to the floor safely. Y'all can do better.

I imagine that the psych patient has been disarmed by the time you have them. Wonder who disarmed them?

They can't answer this. When their kid get beat up they call the police. When their wife has a stroke the police show up. When there is a suspicious person on their ring camera they call the police.

I don't call police. When my spouse needed emergency care, the police did not show up. It was firefighters & EMT.

You call the dispatcher. The dispatcher calls the available assets.

This. I’ve been first on the scene at fires and medical emergencies and a good 8-10 minutes ahead of fire/EMS and started care. But we are happy to stay in our $80k cars, ask you say, and just collect our $100k. Thanks for not calling for assistance!

Good luck with that. What if your house is on fire?

As a citizen, I want the police to protect and serve the community. I want them to be properly funded. I want them to not kill people when it is not justified. I want them to demonstrate an ability to do their jobs without unfairly harassing and beating people.

Yes, it is a hard job. I don't "hate the cops" but I do want bad/illegal behavior to be rooted out of the system.

As a LEO, I can assure you those officers are dismissed, at least at my department and the departments I’m familiar with.

Also, the great majority of us don’t ever want to kill anyone, or even hurt anyone. In fact, that’s the very last thing we ever want to do. The legal implications, the social implications to our family and friends and our psyche are huge. I have friends who have had to rightfully kill someone while protecting others and it’s not something they’ve ever gotten over.

I want to add, the police see horrible, nightmarish things you like to pretend don’t happen where you live. But they do. I have nightmares reliving things I have seen. I don’t, but I have colleagues who drink. We’ve all seen some shh, some people drink. I’m not saying it’s right, but I understand. But on the flip side, I know two officers who have been fired for alcohol-related issues, so it’s not true that we “protect our own”. 20 years ago, yes, I’m sure. But in 2025 with cameras everywhere? Absolutely not. Your addiction isn’t becoming my problem.

Sounds like my roofer. --DCUM poster

I’m sure there are lawyers, dentists, surgeons, politicians, retail workers, accountants, scientists, firefighters, sanitation workers, et al, who are also let go for alcohol-related offenses. It’s not limited to “your roofer” and police officers.

Your roofer must do a crappy job because how often are you requiring his services? You need a new roofer.
