I voted for Harris and consider cis to be a slur, and I am an atheist.
It’s always so shocking how quickly the vicious misogyny pours out of trans activists when they encounter an opinion from a woman they don’t like.
I’m a (cis) woman, and it’s not a slur. It’s an adjective. It costs me nothing to be respectful and inclusive. Whole lot of “victim dysmorphia syndrome” over here.
When people are referred to by a name or adjective they find hate or find demeaning, it is a slur.
The End.

This is the issue. The word "woman" does not need a modifier when referring to 99% of the population. The only terms necessary are woman and transwoman. The difference between the two is abundantly clear.
I agree very much that the word woman doesn't need a modifier. Usually it doesn't have one, thankfully.
I do however think the word cis can be necessary when transgender people are talking about their experiences. "When people think I'm cis..." or "I didn't have this problem when I was cis" or "A lot of cis people don't realize this about trans people," etc.
No. Cis is not necessary. When it’s only used in opposite to trans Cis means normal. Cis is offensive.
‘When people think I’m a girl’, What a lot of people don’t realize about trans individuals
"Cis means normal and it's also offensive"![]()
Trans doesn't mean weird, and it shouldn't even if it's only a small portion of people. Do you want trans people to go around saying "When I was normal..."![]()
This is just 2000s homophobia with a different target.

How does 'cis' say you are not normal? It doesn't.

While I disagree that "cis" is a slur...please explain to me how the use of "cis" is in any way "respectful and inclusive"?
I think the use of "cis" should not be the norm. The norm - for 98% of the population - is that they are "cis-gender", a woman is a female and a man is a male. As this is the norm...you shouldn't have to make "cis" a common term used in everyday language. It's pointless. Now...I'm perfectly fine if people want to use that term for themselves...but don't expect the majority of the population to just roll over and agree to start saying "cis-gender" as a self descriptive gender identity.
