The others you cite are expensive but you can get athletic, some merit, some stack athletic and merit and there may be aid also. Depends on the school. However, if you donât need $$ at all, it also doesnât take from 12.5 scholarships the coach is trying allocate. It doesnât take away from being a great player to get the offer, but makes it cleaner and more simple. The family also can decide fast because they are not waiting for more information on aid and looking/comparing net cost calculations to see if they can afford the school.
So saying - look Cap wins because the most Ivies fast - or high academic fast - ignores this piece.
So all the Ivy recruits are full pay?
Correct. Full pay or qualify for financial aid (but no merit or athletic).
So, this may not be widely known but there are private or alumni funded scholarship at Ivies for athletic recruits. Some are earmarked for specific sports like WLAX or menâs Water Polo. Some are for any athlete who meets certain criteria. They are handed out judiciously and can go to what someone called âdonut hole families.â If they want your daughter badly enough and money is the only obstacle, there are resources the coach can turn to and it happens every year.

How is this allowed? Or ⊠is it not allowed, and are the ivies that do it in violation of Ivy League rules?
