The Hogan supporters on this thread are trying to bamboozle us with vague assurances of Hogan’s alleged “moderation”. But I notice that they carefully avoid acknowledging that senators make binary, up-or-down votes and so far none of them have promised that Hogan would provide Democrats with a crucial vote to block a Trump Supreme Court nominee or a piece of legislation important to MAGA.

If voting for Trump’s Supreme Court nominees is doing a good job, then yes Larry Hogan will do a good job as senator.

I think you need to take a hint from the comments here and realize Democrats need to do better than yelling “he’ll caucus with Republicans” to try and sway moderates away from Hogan. News flash, we know he’s a Republican, and we still voted for him for governor and think he’ll be a great Senator. Why don’t you try to explain why Trone would be a better senator and what he brings to the table other than just being a Democrat.

To anyone reading this who hasn’t yet made up their mind: Hogan will vote for Trump’s Supreme Court nominees. Trone will vote for Biden’s Supreme Court nominees. That’s all you need to know. Please ignore the nonsense rationalizations put forward by the Hogan apologists and go into this election with your eyes open. If you want Trump’s Supreme Court nominees, vote for Hogan. Because that’s what you’ll be getting. Not “moderation”. Trump’s SC nominees.

This is all based on the premise that Trump wins and that a liberal justice retires/dies during this presumed Trump presidency. To the best of all of our knowledge Sotomayor, Kagan and Brown Jackson are not in ill health, nor are they likely to retire during a hypothetical Trump presidency. Trump replacing say, Clarence Thomas, doesn’t change anything it keeps the status quo, so I would only consider the liberal justices in this scenario. I just find all of this too attenuated to force me into voting against Hogan. YMMV.

Do you want Biden to have the chance to potentially replace Thomas or Alito if they die or have to retire? And how would you feel if you voted for Hogan and his victory was the only thing holding that up?
